Watch the teaser trailer here:

Hellblade is based on Celtic folklore and the main protagonist is a woman called Senue.
At first glimpse I sincerely thought that was Kai from Heavenly Sword (twing-twang), due to the hood with cat-like ears and the face paint which looks incredibly alot like what Kai has.
You can compare this screenshot of Kai to Senue in the trailer:
Anyways, I have always been a fan of Ninja Theory and I love their games like Heavenly Sword, Enslaved and DmC, so I'm glad to see they're back! However, Ninja Theory is not wildly popular. Their games have always been deemed mediocre in gameplay, but visually stunning (though there are signs of graphical issues in some cases), but their strength is in their storytelling! Their ability to tell a beautiful story through a videogame was what really caught my attention. They make epic tales without turning the game into an RPG, which was extremely rare when they first showed up as most game developers saw storyline as an afterthought instead of equal to gameplay and graphics.
Sadly, as mentioned above, Ninja Theory have focused more on storyline and seen gameplay as secondary which made the gaming experience for most people unsatisfactory.
Hopefully NT have learned their lesson and will spend as much time and love into the gameplay and graphics as they do with the story.
Either way, colour me excited for this game. ^^

I don't understand why they don't just make Heavenly Sword 2 already. I know the movie is more than likely gauging people's interest in the series, but the series isn't very popular. I don't know what they're expecting but if they would've made a sequel to Heavenly Sword THEN the movie that would've helped skyrocket interest.
So yeah I'm mad at them for not doing Heavenly Sword 2. New game looks okay but nothing I'm very interested in.

Maybe they'll never make Heavenly Sword 2. They might not like making sequals, but would rather make new singular games only. That's what they've done so far.

Maybe.
But HS fans have been clamoring for years for a sequel. Its the only NT game that really gets asked for a sequel. And what if Hellblade does insanely well? No follow up to it because they don't like doing sequels? That's kind of a disservice to fans.
But if that's how they are then that's how they are.

Well, you know, some devs are quirky like that... Like fans have asked and begged and some even made unholy rituals with animal sacrifices in hopes of Valve making Half-life 3, but it doesn't seem like that's ever going to happen...
