- 'Hellboy' Reboot in the Works With 'Stranger Things' Star David Harbour

Hellboy, the demonic comic book hero turned Guillermo del Toro film franchise, is poised to return to the big screen, this time without the filmmaker at the helm.

Millennium is in negotiations with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin for a new installment that would reboot and relaunch the property. Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment is also producing.

Neil Marshall, the horror director who broke out with The Descent and won raves for his work on Game of Thrones, is in talks to direct the project, which has a working title of Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen and has a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.

Del Toro is not involved, nor is Ron Perlman, the actor who inhabited the red-skinned, cigar-chomping devil in the two previous installments.

Rather, David Harbour, the Stranger Things star, is in talks to play Hellboy.

Wow! Shame to lose Ron Perlman (and leave that story unfinished), but it would be great if this version can capture the look and the vibe of the comics. Not sure that you really need an R rating to do that, though. So who knows where they're going with it.

Indeed. Sounded like they had huge aspirations for the 3rd movie, shame they won't be realized.

- We’ve Got ‘Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen’ Sales Art Out of Cannes!

Want to see the first piece of early art? Out of Cannes, we just got our hands on the Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen sales art, which is a beautiful piece from Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. What can we ascertain about the upcoming live-action movie based on the art? Well, nothing really since it hasn’t yet begun filming, but the art seems to suggest a return to the character’s early roots.

Would love to believe this is an actual sign of things heading more in the direction of the comics.

- 'American Gods' Star Ian McShane Joins David Harbour in 'Hellboy' Reboot (Exclusive)

Ian McShane, currently starring on Starz’s American Gods, is joining David Harbour in Lionsgate and Millennium’s Hellboy reboot.

Harbour is toplining as the demonic hero from the Mike Mignola comic books in a new feature, formerly titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, that Neil Marshall, the horror director who broke out with The Descent and won raves for his work on Game of Thrones, is on board to helm.

The new story sees the hero squaring off against a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy humankind.

McShane will play Hellboy’s adoptive father, Professor Broom.

The project is eyeing a September start and will shoot in the U.K. and Bulgaria.

Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin are producing along with Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment.

Ehhhh... Tough to top the late John Hurt. Seems like a very Hollywood call to even keep this character involved.

- Milla Jovovich To Play Blood Queen In ‘Hellboy’ Reboot

EXCLUSIVE: Director Neil Marshall has found his Blood Queen. Milla Jovovich is in final talks to join the Marshall-directed reboot of Hellboy, sources said. The plan is for her to join Stranger Things‘ David Harbour (playing the red-skinned creature originated by Ron Perlman in the Guillermo del Toro films), and Ian McShane, who’s also set to play Professor Broom. Aron Coleite is working on the latest draft of a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin and Mike Richardson are the producers. Millennium Films and Lionsgate are making the film. Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman are also producing through Campbell Grobman Films.

I think we're basically saying budget killed Del Toro's third film.

First thought was that it was poor casting. Now that he's stepped down, it'll be interesting to see who they come up with for the part.

I hope The Shape of Water is a spin-off from Hellboy.

But that would mean it isn't a Venom prequel!

Yes but only if Bane appears as a cameo in the prequel, he then proceeds to be torn apart by the monstrous Symbiote.

- Daniel Dae Kim to Replace Ed Skrein in ‘Hellboy’ Reboot

Daniel Dae Kim is in talks to replace Ed Skrein in Lionsgate’s “Hellboy” reboot starring David Harbour.

The studio was quick to replace Skrein after the actor exited the film in late August following public backlash, which reignited conversations about whitewashing in Hollywood, over him being cast in a role that was originally an Asian character in the comics.

They got a Korean guy to play the Japanese-American. Being Asian aside, doesn't strike me as great casting for the character. Might be Dae Kim's chance to show something he hasn't, though. Expectations low for the whole movie.

David Harbour is Ron Perlman as Hellboy.

Unflattering choice. Go comics or go home.
