The PS2 doesn't have a Modem it's a ethernet network adapter it needs a modem to connect to and for you to have an ISP that supports PS2. i'm gussing you know this and your not trying to connect your PS2 direct to the phone line because it wont work, if you know this then it must be something else. i'm not sure how your connecting it up and what type of connection your using ie broadband or dialup the UK only supports broadband so cant help from a dialup point of view, if it's broadband are you using your PS2 and broadband modem for a direct link or is your PC using the connection as well, i cant really help unless i know how you have it setup.

Actually yes it does have a modem to connect, there are two ports on the adapter if you didn't notice. One is for broadband and the other is analog modem.

What was the exact error message? No Carrier Detected, Login Failed, etc.

I suggest you recheck all of differnt address, and number you enter into the settings, I had trouble before. Also is the broadband set through that wire? I tryed to split my cable wire and hook a modem up to it but it wouldn't work. You need to have an asign broadband line from your provider.
If your unhooking the connection from your PC unplug everything and then replug everything back in and let them boot back up. If everything else is fine just give it a few mins to detect the connection. I've had problems doing this both with a wire and a wireless adapter. Also I didn't do this on a PS2 but an Xbox, but I asume it's close to the same just to set up the connection.

Okay, let me be more specific, i plugged my hdd into the back of the ps2. I plugged a wire into the back of that(yes, its the right type of wire) and ran it next to my computer. Now, i took the modem that sits next to the computer. On the back of the modem are two outlets, "ethernet" and "usb". my computer is plugged into the "ethernet" output. I unplugged the ethernet and replaced it with the wire that i ran from my ps2. So now my ps2 is hooked up to a modem. I turn it on, start the hdd start-up disk. I select aol as my isp, enter sn and password, and select test connection. Here's the problem, the test takes forever and eventually comes back saying failed-and the server timed out.
So i dunno what to do know. I know there must be some communication btwn ps2 and modem b/c when i set it up and turn ps2 on, the light for pc activity on the modem lights up.
I tried to set it up manually. So i entered my isp, and then it asks for something like dns. I have no clue what that is, so i couldnt go any further.
Can you guys HELP????

Not sure if this is the actual problem...
After hooking the modem to the PS2, try unplugging the power from the back of the modem. wait 5 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait for the modem lights to go through the startup cycle, then try connecting with the PS2...
I know that each time you unhook a broadband modem and plug it into another device (such as a console), you have to reset it so it recognizes the new hardware.

Ahh now i know the problem you cant run a PC and PS2 on the same Broadband connection with out them sharing it in one way or another either with a router or using ICS (internet connection Sharing) using a router is easier to setup and your PC does not need to be on when using the PS2 the router does the job of the PC, using ICS takes a bit of configuring to get right also your PC needs to be on for the connection to work,

Like i said in my post The UK only supports Broadband and only has the ethernet connection and it's not a modem here, my mistake if it is in the states.
