How do you create box arts?

I am tremoundously sorry if this has been asked or not, but How do you do Box Arts? I mean, like in the Comp. Cuz Ive seen sites that do Box Art Challenges and all, so what program do you need for it? Thanks

Box arts, you mean for DVD, games, etc? Photoshop is #1. A supporting cast of software could consist of Freehand, Illustrator or some other vector based program.

Once you get Photoshop there are a whorde of tutorials on the net on how to create text, lighting effects, masks, etc. Though, nothing beats a solid design sense coming from you, the artist.

Is Photoshop free or not? Cuz I am Broke so I dont wanna pay. Anyways, If they are Free, Which one do you recomend?
