How do you guys feel about leaving food on a plate without finishing it?

I'm pretty good about finishing my plate. If I don't, I take it to go or put it in the fridge for later (sometimes I finish it off, sometimes it sits too long to be any good and is thrown out).
If I go out to eat, I eat as much as I can without feeling sickly full. Then I take the rest to go and almost always finish it later. Most restaurants aren't cheap...

That's what I was thinking.
I think it is kinda disrespectable If someone makes something you like for free you pick out how much you want and then half way through You diside you don't want it all and throgh half of it in the garbage. Other then that I don't have a problem with it.

I'm Irish, so I naturally came out of the womb with a potatoe.
Nah not really, but my ma never knows when to stop cooking them. I'm around 9stone 8lbs, fairly light like, but I eat like a horse. Bacon (or Rashers as we call it here), Pasta, Caesar Salad (I always make my own with Spring Onion, Tomato, Lettuce, Red Onion, Green Pepper, Cajun Chicken, Croutons and Cheddar Cheese), Pizza, Shepard's Pie, Chicken Korma....you name it, I'll eat it. And I'll eat it in Bulk.
I recently started working in a Thai Food takeaway and shocked the staff when I came in on my day off and ordered two main courses for dinner. A Massaman Chicken Curry and a Khao Pad Krapow Gai, and I licked the plate clean after eating the two of them. The only time food goes to waste on my plate is when my mam overcooks. She literally hands you a heavy plate, with no room left for more food. lol

I'm an incredibly fussy eater unfortunately and as a result very rarely manage to finish whole meals when I'm eating out, and I'll often just flat out refuse to eat when at friends as I don't want them to go out of their way to cater my needs.
When I make my own food however I barely ever leave anything. Mainly cos I know how much I can eat and I obviously don't chuck in something I don't like.
My Dad's the polar opposite to my fussiness as he was raised under the rule of 'if you don't eat it for dinner, you'll have it for breakfast tomorrow' and so on. Even now he'll clean the plate but then tell my Mum to never make or buy whatever it was again.

I don't like wasting food. I'll usually eat it all
I feel like I was told to finish my plate because I should think about the people everywhere else in the world who would love to have my scraps. But in the end of the day, these people in the world have no access to my scraps. Not even the bums. The only people who will see any of my leftovers are seagulls. And maybe rats.
Reading about obesity, I've read that our plates are too big, our portions are too big, and we really don't need to be eating as much as we do. And that it's a good practice to leave a few bites on your plate. So there comes a time when I feel full, but there are a few bites left on my plate, and I wonder. Hey should I finish that. Or let it go to waste. Finishing it usually means that I will get a stomach ache and regret it later. Wasting it means that everyone ever who has told me that a child is dying of starvation will weigh on my conscious, but it's better for my body.
My eyes are bigger than my appetite. I'd always rather make myself more than I can eat instead of less. And I hate left overs. They never taste edible to me, especially not microwaved. And I don't feel like saving a bite or two to be reheated on the stove or oven is worth it. Especially since it is gross.
So at the end of each meal where I haven't finished my plate, I have the decision of doing what I want to do versus doing what everyone else wants me to do. Even if I'm eating alone I really have to weigh the pros and cons of finishing everything or letting it go to waste. It sucks. And it causes me anxiety. I just really have to stop caring what other people think and toss out however much food I want into the trash. But I just really have a hard time doing that knowing someone somewhere will be judging.

'tis why you don't reheat them at all... Roughly 50% of food tastes better cold, assuming it isn't meat.
I'm a bit of a leftover obsessed individual. And, as any good cook knows, if you can save it, you can reinvent it, make it better than before.

Out of the group of friends I hang with, I'm one of the "smaller" guys, but I can out eat any of them. So when I finish my food, they ask always ask me do I want their left overs.
I ate a 32oz. steak in 15 minutes.....I leave nothing on my plate......NOTHING!!!

Speaking of portion size, I was surprised at how much smaller portions are in Australia than in the U.S. When I have a plate i feel obligated to finish it because I always hear my grandfather's Depression-era stories in my head if I don't. Sometimes I end up overeating when all I should do is take home a doggybag.
