MKvsDC + The Grid as a bonus disc or something = $$$$$$.
They did that bullshit with the trading kards or whatever for MK:DA, so why not bust out The Grid or something?
No really. Why the fuck is The Grid not on my PC yet? I'm starting to get pissed off.

The Grid HD + Xbox Arcade = $$$$

There is no fathomable reason as to why they haven't yet.

I thought you had left forever?
Anyways yeah, I've never played The Grid but I've always thought it looked really cool.
I'm sure sooner or later it'll be on a Midway Arcade or something/if not a download like you mentioned

You'd think this would be a no brainer! Yuk!

You'd think an XBL arcade port would be in their best interest, as the groundwork for online play is already there. Ah well.
Like I said, you'd have to worry about emulation. Midway's been using Digital Eclipse for their XBL conversions, and they're in the "port" business, not a rebuild-from-the-ground-up-to-make-it-run business. Midway would probably have to do that themselves or get some different company to do it aside form DE.

Eh, no.
Whoever it was that did Midway Arcade Treasures, they should be able to do The Grid like it ain't no thang.
I can't imagine it being difficult to port The Grid. With all the countless developer tools, son, it should be a walk in the park.

You obviously didn't read what I posted above.
Most the MAT games were straight ports, aside from Hydro Thunder and RUSH 2049, which were conversions of already-done Dreamcast games.
Games such as The Grid and MK4 would require rebuilds due to the complexity of the Zeus arcade boards.
Hell, here's an example from Shinnokxz himself from an emulation forum:
"We all know that all the MK games so far in MAT have been emulated-- with MK1 on the Premium MK:D disc and MK2/MK3 on MAT2. But with MK4, there comes a problem. Midway uses an inhouse emulator for their MAT titles that, supposedly, is coded a lot like the popular MAME emulator for PC.
Now this is my educated observation: knowing this, pair it up with the fact that a playable version of MK4 for MAME is years off and you're looking at bleek chances of any form of MK4 hitting MAT. It was finally added to the 'Non-Working' list on MAME and was availible for download a few releases ago, but it's still far from working, as it doesn't even get past the ROM check.
I posted on alt.mame a few years ago and asked about it, and the head of the project is headed by Aaron Giles. The problem with getting MK4 for the arcade emulated is that there is practically no documentation for the Zeus hardware, so as someone on USEnet put it.. "It's like looking into an endless, dark box" They simply don't know what to do with the ROM's code.
So we gotta a few years, people. That is, of course, if they don't emulate MK4 like they did the other MKs in MAT and actually code it to work with the current systems. That's doubtful, however."
Yes, this is MK4, and not The Grid, but they both run on Zeus boards.
You yourself were wondering why it's not on PC, let alone on current systems. That's pretty much the reason, from what I've gathered.
Much like the home versions of MK4, I don't see The Grid happening unless it's built from the ground up.

You're talking from the perspective of the MAME guys, though.
Midway already has all the documentation and everything. Sooooo, uhm, it shouldn't be any problem. They ported Mortal Kombat 1 like a bajillion times.
Do you have a link to the USEnet posting?
And I think the Shinnokxz' post is outdated. Last I checked, the MAME guys did figure out a couple things about the Zeus board.
Quick question, does Midway name all their boards themselves or what? Or does some company come along to them and be like "Hey guys, use our Zeus board." or something?
Cuz I have no idea. I've always wondered this.
And what is supposed to be so complex about the Zeus board anyway?

Why don't you e-mail Midway about it, then?
I always wanted ports of Daytona 2, Jurassic Park Arcade, Scud Race, and Virtua Cop 3, but I'm not holding my breath on any of them.
I KNOW you know waaaaay more on this topic than I do so could you fill me in pleeeaaaase?
Who comes up with the names for the boards?
And like... Do they need special compilers for them? Or do they just make games like they would for PC?

but since both Zeus and Zeus 2 have no real documentation left. it's kinda hard to figure out how th games were made. Both MK4 and MK Gold (on consoles) were built from the ground-up for the PS, N64, and Dreamcast.
I know as far as Model 3 was concerned (Virtua Fighter 3, Scud Race), and Model 3 Step 2 (Virtual On OT, Daytona 2, Jurassic Park) they used 4 sided polygons (squares) as the basis for rendering, as opposed to 3-sided triangles. Took twice as many polys to render the games on Dreamcast (since you have to make a square from 2 triangles).
Seriously...wtf?

Seems to be playing well these days, sans the shadows. Cheers!

I`ve never played it, but I know from cheat lists, that Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden are in it.
