What would you put into the next MK game, (happy ghostdragon?)

the game would be focused on a detailed story, with several videos not just at the end of the game, but throughout it...there would be choices. You chould choose paths, some with rewards, some with consequences. It would build on the multiple game play mode from MKD.
It would be for the PC as well.
It would be for next gen consoles only, sorry PS2, Xbox, & Gamecube owners
It would include at least 35 characters.
It would include starkly different characters. Not all in the basic humanoid form...everyone would move differently, they would sound differntly.
I would design more interaction with background. Extreme colds, extreme heats effecting how your character moves. Sweat, water, blood, tares etc changing appearance of clothes...
much more...

Would you please put a message in your bloody posts mate?!
~sigh~
Anyhoo, I'd addresss the linear attacking scheme in the game. What I mean is that MKDA and MKD have linear attacks that are in a 3D environment. I had hoped that MKD would give the played more options of attacking from various angles to take advantage of the environment and make the game more dynamic.
I would implement moves that could be applied from the side and behind an opponent that would feel more engaging. As well I'd have the characters' responses to being attacked from these angles would reflect accordingly. In the case of 'breakers', I'd also have a character be able to break out of those stiuations just as if they were being attacked from the front. However, side and real counters would be more difficult to use since the opponent will naturally have an advantage form these positions.
I would also have the player be able to switch back and fother setween their styles. This really bugged me in MKDA when I was pulling off highly technical combos with Shang Tsung, Sonya, and Sub Zero.
Example: I have this one combo with Shang.
From Snake- 1,1,2,CS,2,CS,CS,1,1,2,3
Once I went into Crane I had to go through Straight Sword to get back to Snake wich can waste precious time if I want to pull the combo off right. I'd fix that little problem there.
Being a martial artist, I was pleasantly surprised they used traditional and more contemporary styles in MKDA. Of course I did a couple back flips in joy when I saw that.
More creative 'Fatals' would also be on my agenda. I personally have a HUGE list of fatals written down that are gruesome, different and even a bit funny. I'd print out all 6 pages(at the moment) and see if they'd work for certain characters.
Also concerning 'Fatals', I'd have some of the fatals make use of the 3D environment as well. With the regular moves, I'd have some fatals that could be performed from both the sides and behind an opponent. The added use of camera angles would enhance the look of them as well, thus giving the player a differnt views to their foe's end depending on the specific fatal.
I'm loving the milti level stages in MKD. If there was one thing missing from MKDA, this was it! Great to see these neew types of stages in MKD. So I'd grab my stetch book and do research to think up new evnironments and stages.
Character wise, I'd make MK7 similar to what they've done with MKD in terms of bringing back the classic characters. For MK7, I'd bring back some classica characters and of course introduce some new ones. But I'd also bring back the "Could Have Been Better" characters. Those who have an interesting look or storyline, but wasn't fully embraced by everyone.
I'd think about characters like Kai, Reiko, Nitara, Stryker(Yes, even him!), Mavado, Frost and Jerek. Kai is someone that I would reall want to build up in MK7 cause of his potental from MK4. I'd clear up this whole Reiko deal right off the bat. And I'd give Stryker some balls! The man desperately needs a steel set!
The story line would be intersting. I'm kinda hoping that Onaga wins MKD, so I could bring back Shao Khan and make his badass playable. Shao Khan would have loyal warriors that would help him defeat Onaga and his loyal warriors for controll of the realms, giving MK7 a 'war' aspect that would have the forces of good, smack dab in the middle of the two warring sides.
And if I did bring Shang Tsung back, I'd have him morph not just into other characters in the game, but those from previous games, and maybe even a few warriors that he's slain throughout his existance.
Well, that's my short list.
I'm Ghost

I agree with the above so I'll try not repeat.
First off, we're talking PS3 and Xbox2...I want to see much nearer to a pre-rendered look, or if possible as good as.
The current level of quality (in MKD) is superb but looks like computer graphics.I want the next level (MK7) to look like I am seeing real actors moving on a film set with flowing moves/animation with truer collision detection. No more plastic skin and choppy movements. One word - inertia -please incorporate this into the animations!
Better use of lighting techniques and bump maps will help.
Lighting can be more realistic and creative. Please use less ambient/fill light.
For example if the enviroment is in a room lit from one end by swinging light bulbs, there should be dark shadows on the characters and noticeably bright highlights on the side nearest to the characters. The movements of the lights should interact with the enviroments.
Characters fighting styles should be more obvious when being used. Not just a kicks, punches and blocks from each style--characters should move and change stance exactly as practioners of that style do--Goju-ryu fighters will often fight from the cat stance (neko-ashi dachi) for example.
In Silat styles fighters move smoothly almost dance-like,similar to Ba gua.
In MKD this adoption of the movements and "feel" of the fighting style is only seen in the punche, kicks etc,not in the movements nor in the shouts/KIAIs.Certain styles have their own distinct shout sounds,ha,heng,sa,zaat etc.
The whole Fatalities aspect needs an overhaul.
I suggest "F a t a l i t y F i g h t b a c k s"
If you knew you were going to be "Fatalitied" you would fight til the last, this is the spirit of this idea.
It goes like this:
1.While a Fatality button sequence is being executed,a longer (and therefore harder to execute) code can be inputted. This will trigger a Fatality Fightback animation whereby your character will interact with the Fatality, blocking attacks or covering or diving for cover in the case of a Scorpion Toasty Fatality.
This then leads to a FINAL third round.
2.This is all made fairer by giving the oppenent who who escaped the fatality half a powerbar or less while the opponent who's Fatality was countered will have a 100% powerbar.
3.The computer cannot execute them, only human opponents.
4."Fatality Fightback" codes would be made more difficult to find intially.

OH! I forgot about one other thing. I'd also consider making one of the female characters the lead in the game. Perhaps Sindel or Kitana. I'm not sure if Sonya could carry a game story wise.

I agree. That's a great idea. In fact, all of the ideas I have read here are great.
If it were up to me the weapon styles would be completely redone. Some people might not like this, but I think that some of the characters would not have any weapons, and some would have more than one. There are certain characters whom I can't see using weapons (Liu Kang, Li Mei, Sindel), and others who are primarily weapon based (Kitana, Mileena, Kabal, Kano). Of course, there would be distinctive advantages and disadvantages to each option, and the characters would be balanced out.
The fatalities would be taken to the next level. It seems that, even with the amount of violence and blood in them, the fatalities are kind of "rated" so that certain groups and individuals and organizations can't attack the franchise and blame their children's violent behaviour on Mortal Kombat. With MK7, the game should reclaim it's title as the most violent game series ever. I want them to be so bad that they disturb even me!
I think, like others, that storyline and direction should take precedence in MK7. Each character should have an individual storyline that accurately describes the character's history and builds (or rebuilds) on their existing character traits. Interaction with other characters would be cool, too.
I like the idea of each character having an end boss that pertains directly to them, or even different bosses depending on the outcome of their path or battles, similar to the Street Fighter Alpha series. Kitana could have Mileena, Mileena could have either Kitana or Baraka, Kenshi could have Ermac or Shang Tsung. There could be little chats before the matches and such.
That's all I can think of right now.
