"for the time being" is the real catch there. haha
Believe in war, it is endless. There will be another "threat", another mission, another batch of lies to cover up motive, another ambition somewhere where noses should be kept away from. Never the less, noses will be stuck there, human rights will be violated. And people will sit down, shut up and accept it because they know no better and crave no different.
Don't expect and end, expect an intermission.
The war has been over quite a while, it's not a sign of that. Obama just saw that it's better to take the troops out and let Iraq be by its own already. It's Kuwait now... Wait and see until some bigger wars happen in Eurasia later on during this and the next decade. Mostly they would be conflicts of the former Alaska owner around the Caucasus (suspected).
Another war will be starting before we know it, sadly we've been on this course for quite some time, ever since WW2 we have not had a consistent period of peace, many thought that with the end of the Cold War, a period of peace could reign for at least a while, but that was just a nice dream.
Syria and Iran appear to b in the eyes of the powers that be once again.
The creation of new fear, a new enemy is keeping this drama alive. I'm still convinced that the only way to win this "war on terror" is through education and other peaceful means, killing people has never made them moderate and become more peaceful, the opposite effect has been the case and logically why would people?
I'm not convinced we'll every truly leave Iraq, we still have never truly left Germany or Japan and our wars with them ended many, many years ago, combat troops may have left, but I would not be surprised if, "advisors and trainers" as they like to call them are still around the area.
There is an insatiable appetite for war amongst the powers that be in many nations of the world.
There are claims we don't have enough money for health care, to pay teachers, police officers, and firefighters, fix roads, and feed the poor, but there is always more than enough money to bomb people, go to war, and build new state of the art ways to destroy life.

They want the public to think its over. But I doubt its over. There is always something going on somewhere. Special operations and things like that.

Well they have already caused enough damage.

This is a really complicated topic. I think that Iran is next, there is already a lot of tension between Iran and the US, i and it has grown in the last weeks with the plane Iran captured when it was spying on their territory. Still, Iran is an stronger target that Iraq, so i could see the US aiming to another country (Could be Siria) before or instead of going for Iran.
This is all my interpretention, there are many interests during the war that remain hidden, so we could have a surprise there with a war in a diferent area, but i don't think the US will stop invading countries during the few following years. I still have hope some day it will, but i just don't see it now.

Well, there's still Afghanistan. If my year over there back in 2010 was any indication then it's going to be quite a while before that one is over.
