Ireland and the Crown
Ireland and the Crown
This has been on my mind alot lately, I was wondering what you think about England and Ireland, should the Emerald Isle join the U.K. or the Crown Split Up?
I think Ireland should stay independent with northern Ireland, I don't like that Northern Ireland is in the U.K. I don't even Like that Scotland is in the U.K.
What do you think.

No offense but i think most people could careless. I mean really if ur gonna bitch at people for getting off topic then make an interesting topic.
But in the intrest of fairness, really it cant matter that much. Obviously im no expert on the U.K./Ireland situation but would it really change either that much if whoever became part of whatever or something.

This might be a little bit off topic, but I don't know a lot about European history, but why do some European countries still have kings & queens? I know this might sound like a dumb question, but I also wanted to know why in the 21st century places in Europe and other parts of the world, still have kings & queens?

My guess is that they feel the monarchy has cultural and historical significance to their respective countries, and there's no popular desire by the people to do away with the institution.

Monarchs* are more, often than not, symbols, like in United Kingdom. There are a few such as Queen Margrethe II of Danemark who even if they don't use their power because of "de facto**", are more present in everyday life.
In Malasya,in this country though, they are elected by the "sultans" of each of the states, which are given their status by birth.
In the Arab Emirates, each Emirate has a monarch, but not the whole country.
In Andorra, it's the world's only "co-principality" with a prince from Spain and the other one being the French President...so... to make an image, one of their prince is Elected like in Malasya, but by another that doesn't give a single fuck about them.
Samoa is another wierd case... they used to have monarch which became such for life, but it's been a while since they choose one every five years... So it's like they could use their powers always, but it's once again "de facto".
In Japan... The emperor made the people sovereing after Wold War II, yet, he didn't make stop the line of emperors... He's not bound by unwritten conventions like in UK('cause in paper the Queen could behead just about anyone if she pleased), but by a law on the constitution. He's not so much as a head of state, more like a religious priest the Shinto religion, yet the Emperors don't say the descent from a Amaterasu*** no more since WWII.
*I say monarch 'cause there are many titles to say the same thing. Some places have princes, other Sultans, somoa's I can't even write, etc.
**Which means, it's implicit, everyone knows it even if it's not written anywhere.
***Goddess of the Shinto religion, she's the Goddess of the Sun. The Emperors used to say they were her descendants.

I don't hate the U.K. but its a slap in the face to William Wallace and all he fought and died for. And Come on people keep on subject. YAYs I went to a party dressed as william wallace last friday woohoo.
Anyways there is no reason why ireland and scotland should become indipendant...really they pretty much are anyways because they have their own governments and such.
I think england gave enough of its colonies back dont you think.
And we have a monarchy just to keep traditions....its always been that way, until government was introduced and the king and queen is just able to have his/her say now and then on some of the decisions brought up by parliment, all they are really is a family with a name, a rich family at that and of late quite contreversial.

William Wallace fought for scotland independence which we got. The U.K is more like continent (I know it country).
Ireland is best kept apart from U.K because if they join then there will be more IRA bombing

And who gives a shit? Scotland can do pretty much whatever the hell it wants. It's what Wallace wanted. If you don't like people being opressed, go fight for a free Samoa, an independent Hawaii and a completly autonomous Puerto Rico.
