So I sez to myself, "Self! There's a Jackie thread. So why not a Jet Li thread?"

I want to do something a little different other than the general "here's my list" comments, of which are welcome. Jet Li has made five western films, but I really can't say that he's done his best work in any of them.

ROMEO MUST DIE was just okay, but I give him somewhat of a pass cause it was his first film where he used english throught the movie. KISS OF THE DRAGON I have to say has been his best western film to date cause there was a solid story with the character and the action and suspense worked well with the dialogue.

THE ONE was just horrible in every sense of the word. They should have looked elsewhere when The Rock was too busy with The Scorpion King. CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE was... eeeeeeeeh! Cory Yuen should have directed the movie. They mad a mistake in secgemting Li's fight against Dacascos with DMX saving his daughter, and the girls fighting.

In DANNY THE DOG, Jet's next movie(in post production), he's teamed up with Besson and the director from KOD to make this film. There's a french trailer on the web (somewhere) that looks interesting.

In contrast, look at the movies he's done in Hong Kong. MY FATHER IS A HERO, OUATIC 1,2,3, FIST OF LEGEND, BODYGUARD FROM BEIJING, NEW LEGEND OF SHAOLIN and others. not every one was a homerun, but they had more depth of story than THE ONE and C2TG.

What I want to know is if you all think that Jet Li will eventually have a break out western film of which he can build upon? Or do you think that this is the best that expect from him in western films? OR should he just return to the genre of movie that made him great?

Personally, I feel that if he were to have more creative input, such as producing and bringing in some people he's familiar with from the Hong Kong cinema, then perhaps he'd fair better at the box office.

I still haven't seen HERO , but I think it's good for him to go back and make those kinds of movies too.

So with that said, now's the time to throw up the obligitory "here's my list" list.

1. FIST OF LEGEND
2. OUATIC 1,2,3
3. MY FATHER IS A HERO
4. KISS OF THE DRAGON
5. NEW LEGEND OF SHAOLIN
6. TAI CHI MASTER

I'm Ghost!

Ghost, Ghost, Ghost...tsk tsk tsk...The One OWNS!! I had to buy that one ;) I just really like the end where he is in that 'Prison Realm' and kicks the shit outta thousands of dudes.

All his movies seem to be great, I was gonna rent his game too, but I didn't hear any reviews yet. Anyone play it? I might pick it up next week.

Also, was he in Hard Boiled? Better yet, where can I rent Hard Boiled??? I have heard great things but Hollywood Video doesn't appear to carry it.

Jet Li wasn't in the Blood Sport series. That was Van Damme (in the first one anyway).

Anyway, Jet Li is one of my favorite martial art actors. And his best movie is Fist of Legend, with Kiss of the Dragon as a close second. The One was awesome too.

Yea I forgot "Kiss of the Dragon", that 'move' was sweet where he stuck that dude with the pin at the end. Glad to see someone else likes 'The One' too!!!

have you guys played Rise to Honor for ps2? that game is da $hit!
plays just like Jet does in the movies, I read reviews of it before I bought it and there were really poor reviews, but I guess they didn't know how to handle the game, if you've observed how Jet fights in his movies, that's how you gotta control him in his game.

My fave Jet Li movies are:

Tai Chi master,
New legend of shaolin,
Once upon a time in China I, II, III,
Kiss of the dragon,
Fist of Legend
