It's hard to keep up with the news since I don't have cable, let alone, a television lol. But when I pass by my parents house, I do tune into CNN and from what I understand is...ever since the whole Egypt government uprising, it prompted other countries to take a stand as well. One of them is Libya who wants ther leader, Moammar Gadhafi 42 year old reign to be over. But Gadhafi isn't stepping down (obviously) so he keeps bombing his own civilians despite the "no fly zone" implemented by the United Nation. Now Obama and European forces have attacked Gadhafi's forces.

Ghedaffi (spelling) send a threat to all intervening countries to "stay out of it or else"
Canada, Britain, USA, France and Italy are among the involved countries I believe.
I hope things dont get any worse. also a total of 110-112 surface to air missiles were launched, taking out key points in Lybian pro-Ghedaffi forces. As of about 5pm EST.

Casselman got most of it.
Essentially, Gaddafi is murdering his own people for rising up against him.
The US and other allied countries have stepped in and started bombing Gaddafi's forces and essential military targets in an attempt to help the Libyans who want him gone (a vast majority, despite what he may think).
I'm not really fooled- I know it's no coincidence the US and UK started bombing just after Libya's biggest oil reserve was damaged and captured by Gaddafi, raising oil prices to the highest they've ever been. I may not approve of the motive, but if it ends up helping the Libyan people, this is one US military operation I'm not against. Also- my next-door-neigbor is a Libyan American filmmaker, and he's actually over there shooting a documentary about this and making sure his family stays safe. I hope he comes back in one piece! He's one brave guy.

The problem with the leader of Libya is that he is killing his own people. On top of that all of the other countries in the region are actually siding with the US on this issue because the Libyan leader has at some point sponsored terrorist attack on all of them including the US. Everyone wants him gone

Obama suggested tapping into our emergency reserve but still refuses to address the fact that 60-70% of outstanding oil contracts are held by speculators.
What a world.
