Hideo Kojima mentioned at E3 2004 that the MGS series could continue without him, infact he wanted that even after MGS2.

But how can you guys be so sure the game is in the 60's? Everyone was sure thy were gonna play Snake in MGS2, were'nt they? And everyone probably said WTF? when they got around to play Raiden. With that said, it will probably be in the 60's, but i'm not gonna take everything for granted before MGS3 is in MY console, running.
Except for the Croc head helmet, i'm gonna take that for granted.

maybe the third piece for sony but i heard mgs4 is exclusive to gamecube (when it comes out) but that rumour was ages ago
