Last month, I made a thread called "The Official New Wave Of American Heavy Metal Thread", which was to talk about post-Nu-Metal bands from the United States, such as Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, God Forbid, and Chimaira. Well, I didn't realize until MUCH later that I made the subject of that thread too narrow, because some posts mentioned metal bands that were NOT part of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal.
This time, I'm gonna make the topic more broad. I don't care if you like hair metal, NWOBHM, NWOAHM, "nu-metal", Thrash Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, or very early metal. Post the metal bands you like, your favorite metal albums, your favorite metal guitarists...whatever, just as long as it has to do with the metal genre.

I like pretty much all of those bands. God Forbid's singer annoys me a little, but that's nothing practice and a few lessons wont fix (the song Soul Engraved shows that he has the voice for it, he just hasn't trained it enough). Look at Bleeding Through, their singer used to really suck, then all of a sudden on their latest album he has quite a nice singing voice.
Anyways...
Bands I've been listening to lately - Susperia, ...And Oceans, The Project Hate, Dan Swano (been listening to "Oddyssey" lately), Immortal Souls, Into Eternity, Beyond The Embrace, All That Remains, Diablo, Sentenced, Poisonblack, Disarmonia Mundi, Embraced, Insomnium, Astriaal, Andromeda, Nightrage, The Haunted, Rapture...
Beyond The Embrace and All That Remains are both newish (2 albums each) bands from the US, too.

I listen to quite a bit of metal although lately I've mostly been listening to hardcore (incidentally, more on the punk side of hc than the metal side).
Some of my favorite metal bands are In Flames, Slayer, Fear Factory, and Nothingface. Other than that I listen to a lot of "metalcore" bands, if we're willing to go into the area of subgenres/crossovers. Some metalcore bands I listen to are Bleeding Through, All Out War, Avenged Sevenfold, Eighteen Visions, and Atreyu. Most of the other stuff I listen to is either just hardcore or punk. And a couple other metal bands here and there.

That's a nice pic of Kittie, by the way. I've got some pics taken of myself with three of the members of Kittie (couldn't get my pic taken with Jennifer, though, because she was in a shitty mood that day after someone threw beer on her side of the stage). But instead of posting the pics here, I'll provide links.
Here's me with Morgan Lander.
Here's me with Mercedes Lander. (this one is also on the MKO Users Pic Page that The_Purple_Bunny set up)
And here's me with Lisa Marx, the new guitarist.
Hmmm... No metal. If we're getting into the hardcore genre, though...:
The Locust. I find them hilarious. And awesome. Mainly hilarious. But mainly awesome.
Dillinger Escape Plan. Very good. No more needs to be said.
Bleeding Through. Nice emocore.
Fantomas. Like DEP, only different in every way. Some of the craziest vocals ever.
Muter. Stupid phresh dancable digital-grind-shit.

Wow, personally I disageree with that, but hey to each his own, right? I saw them this past Saturday at Ozzfest and just about two years ago (with Meshuggah and Mushroomhead on an off day of ozzfest), I had never heard of them at the time and i was truly blown away! And they did not fail to deliver on Saturday either.
Now I'm listening to alot of Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve, Old Man's Child - In Defiance Of Existence, and Lamb of God - As The Palaces Burn.
Favorite metal musicians... (well just a few)

The Dillinger Escape plan is too good for this thread. So is The Locust. And Fantomas.
You have the WORST taste in music I've ever seen:
Mark Tremonti? Power Fucking Chords.
Fieldy: Click Click Click Click Click, I can't hear music all I hear is Click Click Click
Skindred has been out for about a year now.
Slayer, Metallica and Sabbath are the only true metal bands you listed. Zepplin isn't metal.
And Alter Bridge? ROFFELCOPTER.

Lots of good bands you all are posting. Very good variety of Metal I should say.
Obviously, I can't list each and every one of my favorite metal bands on here, because there's so many I like. Alexi Laiho of Children of Bodom is one of my favorite guitarists, as are Matt Bachand and Jonathan Donais of Shadows Fall. These are only examples.
Superjoint Ritual is another one of my favorites. The thing that caught me onto this band was Phil Anselmo of Pantera. But what I didn't know until rather recently is that Superjoint's bassist is Hank Williams III. I thought that was weird to have a country singer in a band. It's no secret that he's the son of Hank Williams Jr and the grandson of Hank Williams. But this isn't the first time Phil Anselmo's been in a band with the son of a country singer. Remember Pantera? Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul are the sons of country musician Jerry Abbott, and yet, they grew up listening to bands like Judas Priest and Van Halen. Another thing I learned about Hank Williams III is that he's also into punk rock, and I think he's in some punk band, as well. A very weird thing to see in the metal genre, but sometimes, it does happen. And even with this known fact, Superjoint Ritual still prefers staying underground, which I think is cool.

Well I'm not the biggest metal fan in the world, and I have no idea what's specifically metal nowadays as you people have been listing bands from all over the spectrum, but I'll name a few...
Iced Earth (kudos to Temp)
Beyond the Embrace (kudos to Death-Blooms)
In Flames (also kudos to Temp)
Dream Theater
Bozzio Levin Stevens
Black Sabbath
Anthrax
Velvet Revolver's kind of metal. If they're not they're still cool.
Alexisonfire
Tombstone Diaries
and as far as I'm concerned best metal band ever... IRON MAIDEN. Bitch.
As for guitarists... John Petrucci is up there. Also Adrian Smith.
