Metallica
I like them. People beat on them too much though, say they're over-rated and whatnot. Everyone hates their new album, even though it is really not as bad as it seems, same with St.Anger. My favorite album is Kill 'Em All with Dave Mustaine on lead Guitar.

Kirk Hammett played on KEA; Mustaine played on the No Life 'Til Leather demo (which was a lot like KEA). Honestly, Mustaine was a shitty lead player while he was with Metallica; he didn't really rise above wankery until Peace Sells But Who's Buying, so I don't blame Metallica for booting him when they did.
As for Metallica, I'm an indifferenter. They have a few good songs, especially earlier on, but otherwise they're just okay. My problem with them is that they don't have a very distinct style, but I think that's also what makes them so accessible.
I generally like Metallica. Even Load and Reload.
But not Saint Anger.
Death Magnetic is cool though.
Been a fan since '86. Yes. I was 9. My parents were cool.
Ok, my parents weren't cool at all.
I illegally downloaded all of Metallica's albums even though I own the CDs just for giggles.

Metallica is one of those bands you have to take album by album. Although I was disappointed with Load/Reload, that wasn't the start of it all. They were having problems all the way back into Justice, but up until the mid 90s, the good just always outweighed the bad. Even in the Load albums, there were decent moments here and there.
My favorite record from them is Ride the Lightning. I consider Justice is a bit over credited... and yet one of my favorite songs from that album is the title track, which no one really talks about for some reason. It's like Iced Earth's "Burnt Offerings." Fans won't shut up about that album yet they never talk about the title track, which is BY FAR the best track on that album save maybe "Dante's Inferno." And that's a big maybe.

I don't really listen to them, not really a metal person in general, but I respect them and like what I've heard.
Black Album is what I heard most of and it was pretty damn good.

Love em.
I really feel like they dont get enough respect as they should becuase they are quite commercial now and very well known.
They are great songwriters and have some classic songs, I love the Justice album the best

I of course think "Enter Sandman" is there best. I also enjoyed their cover of "turn the page". I'm not really into heavy metal but I do like pop-metal which I would probably say those two songs fall into that category. But of course those metal songs today probably would fall in that category. I remember once there was some concert on cmt about rebels of music and it was mostly country artists of course like Gretchen Wilson, Tanya Tucker, and Metallica were headliners of it too. I was stunned they would appear on a CMT program but they of course did their thing and clearly have respect for other types of music and the industry. they may have even performed with others there. I can't remember. I'm sure there are videos online somewhere.
