I think it would work, but I would hope it starts at the very beginning of Mortal Kombat...you know when those 'wise men' begged the Elder Gods and the very first Mortal Kombat Champion (Pretty sure it was NOT Kung Lao). This way we can find out how Rayden got involved, what exactly is so special about the Kung Lao/Liu Kang line, see the origins of the Red/Black Dragon, exactly what is Shang Tsung, etc.
