Decades have passed since the defeat of the Dragon King and the Elders, realizing the danger of Mortal Kombat, sealed the gateways to realms so no evil could threaten the earth. Since that day centuries have passed, heroes have passed on, and the world has been kept safe. But there is a single soul that remains.

The ghost of Hanzo Hasashi had been embodied within the demonic form of Scorpion and has suffered for many years in the Netherrealm. Shinnok is no longer the ruler and the realm is in constant war with Higher Demons warring amongst each other. Hanzo has murdered and committed many sins, in life he was an assassin, so in the afterlife his lair has become the haven to many lost souls caught up in the war.

When the Brothers of Shadow releases the ancient demon of war, Baal, it is up to Hanzo and the residents of the forsaken realm to stop the evil demons he is using to open a portal to Heaven.
