i've got a question about my computers modem. i have a 56k modem installed but everytime i connect the connection speed is about 30. how can i make it better?

Get DSL/Cable.
ha ha, i would if i could. but really i thought it was supposed to connect at 56k's. is there anything i can do to my computer to make it as fast as it was when i first got it?
