I don't like any of them, but on an early morning when I get up for school, I just watch all my music video channels except BET.

MTVHITS is the only video channel I got that shows actual videos I want to see.

Tho VH1Classic or whatever that plays all old rock video's is pretty cool.

BET--- doesn't show on my tv (cable service sucks).

MTV--- I don't watch it anymore cause they don't or can't show Janet Jackson's videos. And you all know why.

So I watch VH1. But sad since I don't get the whole variety of music.

What I don't get is that if Viacom is owner of Vh1 and MTV, how come VH1 shows Janet videos but MTV won't or can't?

I used to watch BET more than anything else, I love comic view, they have some of the funniest comedians ever.

mtv is awful. they had jackass which was awsome, but cancelled it. the also had 3 south (i think that was the name), but fucking cancelled it. hell all there few good shows were cancelled and replaced with "reality TV" shit. and their music is pop and rap nothing else. but the thing that pisses me off the most is there videos and shows have sex sex and sex in them. but one VIOLENT video and they get all pissy and call it trash refusing to show it. They even refused to show korn's "yall want a single" cause it gave away the truth about the record buisness. BET isnt any better. Do all black people listen to rap? i dont think so. I have black friends who hate that channel, and they listen to rock and hate rap and hate all this gansta shit. why is there Black entertainment television, they are just seperating race even more. Of course we also seperate sex by creating WE and Lifetime (television for idiots). Soon we will have a japanese channel and an atheist channel just to seperate us more. oh well, back to BET. It did play Jason goes to hell (why, i have no idea)so ill give them that.

Concerning your friends; eventough your friends have eclectic tastes in music, that's not a referendum that most African Americans dislike Hip Hop/Rap.

BET does not just play hip hop/rap, but Gospel, soul, jazz(sundays), and R&B. The reason for BET being in existance is that niehter MTV nor VH1 would put those other genres in thier regular rotations. It's true that both show Hip hip and R&B videos, however they don't show the other genres that African Americans would like to watch and listen to as well. This issue can be carried over to the WE and Liftime topics as well. There's a demand for shows and original movies that women would enjoy watching on a regular basis. NBC or the other networks won't do that cause they catier to a wider audience and demographics.

How can women enjoy shows that appeal to them if the networks do not regularly put them in their lineups? They, like African Americans can't just accept programing that doesn't appeal to thier tastes. Arican Americans and women do, I believe watch a wide variety of shows and channels, however they also would like to see channels that would appeal directly to them. Where else are women and African Americans going to find shows and movies that speak directly to them? This is the same for Telemundo(sp?) and other spanish speaking channels. I doubt that ESPN is going to show Lucha Libre on Thursday nights.

That slippery slope about Japanese and Atheists is kind off base. I'm sure that there must be some cable channel on the west coast that has Japanese or Korean programing specifically for them. Sure they watch the network shows like everyone else, but what's wrong with them watching programing that catiers to them?

And to reply to the subject of this thread, I watch both Mtv and BET, but not religiously. I think both networks need to work on their programing cause some of the shows are weak. Bet's Comic View and 106 & Park are the only shows I watch on BET. I was happy as hell when Mtv brought back Headbanger's Ball. Punked, Pimp My Ride, Making The Band(Da Band) are pretty much it for Mtv.

For about 20 of the 24 hours in a day, MTV is nothing but reality-show crap. the other 4 hours, it IS BET.

Mtv shows nothing but rap videos, Bet shows nothing but rap videos and unfunny stand-up. They both suck dick.

I watch BET now since Mtv got lame with Jack*** and punk'd.

I think Bet is owned now by a parent company of MTV because I've noticed a few shows on there that mtv has aired in the past. But I hate both of them Bet plays nothing but rap, Mtv plays pop and rap, and as for MTV2 it went to shits playing rap as well. The whole reason everyone bought into MTV2 was for rock and the underground sceen with up and comming artist. Now sunday is dedicated enterly to rap. The only Rock shows even on mtv2 now are a rock count down, and Headbangers ball whcih aren't even that popular. Mtv has way to many relaity shows. And Carson Daily has try to disassociate himself with TRL because of crap there playing. He puts some gay as College kids (with the exception of Hillary who was the only decent VJ [and hot I might add]) on to take over for him. Everything iabout the music channels suck they're just terrible now.

MTV:It's the same as BET.I use to watch Making The Band untill they took it off the air last week.Real World is just sad now.The older episodes were alot better.There are always Stereotypes on there now.I haven't seen nothing new in the last few seasons.Just SEX,SEX and a bunch of people who like to start dumb arguments over nothing.There too emotional on there.I used to like MTV in the early 90's 1993-1997.They started falling off when the POP genre made it big.There Libral idiots too.They always say vote for Kerry all because he is "down" with the generation.Yeah,right this dude isnt for young people he's for Kerry.
