Hey guys, haven't posted here in a long while, hope all has been well! I've come to seek some help as to make an attempt to expand my diversity when it comes to gaming. Over the past couple of years, I've stuck to just a few games and series'. These include Halo (3, ODST, Reach, 4), Madden NFL, Guitar Hero, and a few Call of Duty games (MW2, Black Ops, MW3). These are literally the only games that I've played for years. I've been watching a lot of gaming videos on YouTube by a group run by the popular YouTube stars Smosh, entitled SmoshGames, and I feel like I've been missing out on a lot of great games, since I've been too afraid to try new genres. Basically, all I want from you guys are suggestions. I have an Xbox 360 so try to keep all games on that console. I'm open to almost any genre, so please suggest some great games you've played:)

Tomb raider. As close as you can get to uncharted on the 360. Great game.

Bioshock infinite. Youll be familiar with the 1st person mechanics, but the art direction and story are second to none.

DMC. Great action game. Might not be as deep as the older ones(was more than enough for me). Beautiful game.

Sonic and sega all star racing transformed. Long name. Great kart racer.

Hitman absolution. If you like stealth games, youll enjoy this.

Dishonored. See hitman, but 1st person.

Mark of the ninja. See hitman, but old school side scrolling.

Need for speed most wanted. Solid open world racer.

Thats the most recent stuff off the top of my head that i can vouch for. Might post again if i think of something else. Are we talking years, that thats all you played?

Ever played any RPGs? I might suggest a Bethesda game like Fallout 3 or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, because they're really accessible and bridge the gap between the first person action games you're used to and role-playing games.

Dark Souls will kick your ass, but it's an incredible game.

Dragon Age: Origins is one of the best RPGs I've played this generation. The PC version is definitely the best - the 360 version seems fine, just not as good. You'll want to avoid the sequel because it's shite.

I greatly recommend Little Big Planet.

It wreaks of diversity.

To Detox: I do have Dishonored and I enjoy it very much, I made a list of just a couple games to get and Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider are very much on that list. but yes that is true. Since around 2009 or 2010 I've really only played Halo, Call of Duty, and Madden. I occasionally play Guitar Hero, some Assassin's Creed and one game in particular I fell in love with but never got the sequel was Bioshock. I played a little bit of Left 4 Dead and obviously Mortal Kombat. But I regret not playing games like Max Payne, Dead Space, Mass Effect, Portal, Resident Evil and other big series' like that.

To Ninja_Mime: I usually enjoy some RPGs, I tried playing Skyrim for a bit but I couldn't get much into it...then again I only played for about 15 minutes...

I liked the sequel, obviously not as well as the first though, but still i thought it was good. In a nutshell, i disagree that it is shit.

This.

The Metal Gear Solid HD collection and Red Dead Redemption are spectacular story-wise. If you're into puzzles Portal 2 is great. I would seriously give Skyrim another shot if I were you, as well.

Max Payne 3 is great. Old school and challenging, but awesome.

As someone pointed out, red dead redemption is another great one.

Batman arkham asylum and arkham city are amazing games. They really capture the universe well, and gameplay is smooth.

Sleeping dogs is one I forgot earlier. Great open world game. A story that pays homage to Hong Kong cop movies. More hand to hand combat than gunplay, which is an interesting, but successful, choice for a sandbox game.

Prototype 2. Great open world game. Story is paper thin, some missions are repetitive, but the superpowers and overall height of badassery you reach is awesome.

Enslaved. This is a dark horse candidate haha. Combat isn't deep, but narrative and art direction(along with a pretty epic opening scene and epic boss battle at the end) make it a game worth playing.

If you're into wrestling at all, wwe13 was the best simulation title in a while. Attitude era mode and general control refinements are mainly a success.

And I'll go ahead and throw in wwe all stars as an arcade alternative. The game is light on modes and plays more like a fighting game than a wrestling title, but its fun as hell and deserved a better reception than it received.

I think you should start with Metal Gear. Close enough to your comfort zone but when you are done with it you will be much more interested in other genera like Adventure and maybe even RPG.
