So we are well into the new year, and with the new year comes resolutions. Some that will either get carried through to the end (quit smoking, lose weight, beat MK9...etc.), and some we may forget about or think none of it because it's too high of a bar.

Got on Youtube and found a video in my recommended section about a fad that has been around for a while called the Fur Fandom. Short and simple, think of it as dressing up for Halloween, but doing it regularly. Now these people dress up not as the basic ghosts or any other Halloween costume, but as...animals or any other fictional character he/she would prefer. If you would like more information on it, there are a few Wikipedia sites that describe the fandom in full detail.

Anyway, I have made a new years resolution to own my own. I've been spreading the word to friends, family, and can't think of anyone else but to go here. If anyone wants to know what animal I wish to be...it would be a wolf.

My question to you guys is...what do you think about the Fur Fandom? Would you do it if you wanted to?

I don't know anyone close to me who does this, so I can't say much on the subject. What I can say is that it's definitely not my kind of thing.

Can't say I've encountered fur fandom of this degree, but there was this group of kids who sat a few tables away from me and friends at the shisha cafe we regulared. They wore mostly typical punk clothing, but in addition to that, they wore raccoon tales. After they left, we typically made Mario Bros 3 jokes about them. Harmlessly, of course. We never said anything really fucked up.

I'm not going to tell anyone they should or shouldn't do this, but I could see it leading to a great deal of adversity. Do fur fan-types wear the stuff at their jobs as well? Does it stop being a resolution if they don't?

Yeah that sounds like you've seen some. One doesn't have to dress in the full thing to be considered one. Tail, ears, head, paws...etc count. And by the way to describe what they wore...yeah I've noticed that most people who do this fandom, have obsession for punk material.

If anything, I gotta be an animal that - when anthropomorphic - deals with hot abs and being scantily clad.

My choices are:

Phoenix
Lion
Panther
Wolf
Kratos
Tiger
Komodo Dragon
The Cast of Jersey Shore
Jackal (duh)
Great White
