I have this game, and I agree, it's easily one of the best games I've ever played. Easily. It's also one of the most painfully difficult games I've played in a very long time. Talk about the blood, the sweat, and the tears...

Apparently in the american version (i have the UK one) you can slice off the ninjas heads which I think got cut in the UK version. Does this happen?

Yes, if you use the right combos you can slice their heads off.

Everyone who got lost in the E3 coverage might have forgoted that the Master Ninja Tournement is also going on. Unfortunetly you have to start a brand new game and complete it before June 1 for the first round. Sucks you can't register an already completed game. I beat it twice, and have no intrest in beating it a third. On the cutting heads off; it's an automatic animation when you deliver the final killing blow to an enemy; and yes it was taken out of the Europe vervion, because of there stricter censorship laws. You can also cut the zombies heads, and limbs off with the plazma sword once you've unlocked it in the Amercian verion.

I rented it and it kicks ass. And it is hard and challenging, which is of course a good thing. It isn't one of the best games ever though, IMO. It is still very good, but not the best. But of course, i'm a huge Splinter Cell(both games) fan.

It's awesome, and it's nice to know that it's still being discussed in this forum. I got it a while back, and loved it. For some reason though, I don't understand why people claim that it's "painfully difficult". I've mentioned this many times, but oh well. It actually is pretty easy, and the fact that you need to move faster is easier than Deadly Alliance's having to wait to push a button while doing a combo. With Ninja Gaiden it doesn't matter how fast you do it, Ryu will pull it off, and kick ass. The game's awesome, and I have, and still do, highly recommend it to anyone who likes good video games.

Well, for me, it's because I suck at video games, even though I like playing them. Perhaps "painfully difficult" is a bit of an overstatement though. It's actually not that hard, but I did get hung up on a few of the bosses, and I limit myself to using only-so-many health potions, so if I breach or go past that limit I kill myself, so I end up battling bosses 10+ times before I get it right, so maybe it seems harder/longer (heh) to me than it really is...

Anyway, I haven't unlocked the old games yet, in fact I haven't beaten the game yet, need to get back to working on it...

It's a great game, my brother got it 2 months ago, I love the design, the sound/ music, gameplay, but it is too damn hard. I beat it half way through and I just gave up when I got to that bitch Alma, she's so f**** cheap with her arial attacks. I must have spent a whole month just trying to beat her. The camera however frustrates me, I wish it could have been a little closer to the main character.

Im pretty good at video games (I can complete sonic and knuckles without dying, I completed splinter cell: Pandora tomorrow on the 2nd day I had it, Ive opened all the koffins in MKDA) but I still think this is one tough son of a biatch!! Ive been playin it for like 4 hours and Im still only on the 4th chapter! Does anyone wanna tell me how you go about upgrading the dragon sword? I dunno how!

When you're in the one of the shops (which you access by going up to one of the statues of an old man), go over to blacksmith, select your sword, and if you have enough essence he'll forge it to a higher level for you. Make sure you also talk to him to give him your golden scarabs.

Do i have to buy the dragon sword again in the shop then? In the weapon bit theres only a dragon sword and a wooden sword.

No, you already have the dragon sword. At the top of the screen says something like "Shop---Blacksmith---Talk." Select "Blacksmith," then your sword should appear in the list on the left, along with any other weapons you currently own. Select the sword in the list on the left, he'll ask you if you want it forged, say yes.

When playing you must take control of everything available to you, thats all. Just keep in mind that Ryu is superior to everyone *boss* that you fight, and you're good.

I just killed that thing with the tentacles. It's f***ing disgusting! First time ive ever been grossed out by a video game!! I keep gettin killed by the black ninjas who put firecrackers in your pockets (that old prank! ). Does anyone have any advice to kill the bastards?

There pretty easy once you know how to beat them, they have no throws, and the firecrackers can be blocked. I normally just stand there and block then reverse there attacks until there is only 1 or 2 left.

If you think its easy, have you tried it on very hard... I'm tackling that right now... man... the Unlabored Flawlessness is badass, but it costs a lot of money and it wasn't worth in Hard mode, so I'm just going with the dragon sword and using my money on elixirs and whatnot... this game is awesome though... the heads come off only on certain combos though... rushing slashes, some aerial attacks, but some they just die... only the Dino-fiends heads don't come off(and bosses) and anything without a head or that is really small... those black ninjas are fustrating on Very Hard though... especially when you have to fight three-four of them at once... damn I hate them...

Nah I aint got that far yet but I have just done that bit where you throw a exploding shuriken at that glowing wall, and the big stone head chases you. 1st time i saw it, I was thinking Crash Bandicoot anyone??!

I love this game. I've had it for 2 days now and I'm on Chapter 11, still going strong.

I have bought everything from the shop that I want and that is needed, and still have just over 50000 left.

Talking about the hardness factor, I only have difficulties with the bosses. The actual levels I'm finding quite easy. (So far)

Definately one of my top games, ain't played a game thats kept me from sleeping for a good couple years now

when you play the game a second time you can have the dark dragon blade.she is in the house where you got the bow(in the hayabusa village, or something like this)
