ok. i was sleeping in my new room the other night and i was dreaming about lava(i have no idea why) i was in some kind of volcano world or somethin, then a woman caught on fire walks up to me and says i'm not caught. not caught i asked her? what do you mean? then i woke up and my blanket was on fire.(i do not smoke and neither does anybody in my family, and my parents were grocery shopping and my sister was at school).i had a little burn on my leg and it hurt like hell. i had no lighter in my house and no fireplace. this was really weird and it's kinda driving me crazy and i cant sleep. is this a sign or somethin?
ps. i don't do drugs.

Well damn. There goes that assumption.
Well, let me first say that such a coporeal manifestation from one's REM dream state into the natural world should nieher be considered a sign from where science cannot formulate conjecture nor a mere coencidence that favored you in this particular situation right off the bat.
Everything that happens has a natural cause that can be determined by verifyable evidence. The fire you experienced as an effect of which could not logically happen without a plausable and verifyable cause.
However, what is also true is that anything that is beyond the realm of the natural, is oftern refered to as the supernatural, yet that is only in curcumstances wher all logical measn have been exhausted. But still, it 'ony' asserts that logical means at present time could not determine a cause for an event.
So you do not smoke nor was there a lighter nearby. Niether your parents nor sister were present when this 'incident' occured. So where can we go from here?
* Was there a lamp near by?
* Is there an electrical outlet near your bed? If there is, was there anything plugged in? Is the proximity of the outlet close enough to your bed sheets?
* Was there any other electrical device on or near your bed at the time of the 'incident'?
* Is the floor of your foor carpeted? If so, how thick is it? Shag, thin,... what?
* Do you drink alcohol? If so, was any present in your room and in the proximity of your bed?
* Does your room have a window? If so, where is it in relation to your bed? Does the window have curtains? During the day, does sunlight come through that window?
Something you should clarify. You said the other night is when you were sleeping. At what time of did you wake up to find your sheets on fire?
These are only a few questions that yould require answers to help determine the cause for this event.

i do not drink alcohol, i have no carpet, i have curtains on my window and i have had no other things in my room that are electrical. i have all my other stuff in a different room and it stays there, when i went to sleep i go straight to that room and lay down. the only light i have is through my door when it is cracked open from the bathroom. but at this time the door was closed. there has to be an explanation for this!!!

Well, that's odd... I had something kind of similar happen a while back. I had a bunch of mates over and one of them said they could smell smoke, I just laughed and said "Bullshit" sarcastically (since most of my freinds smoke cigarettes and what not in my room), he said "Nah seriously man" so I figured he wasn't just being retarded. We looked around for a second, and surely enough, one of my shirts was on fire for no apparent reason. Now, I can understand a fire starting in my room quite easily, the weird part is that it was underneath a fire hydrant I stole years ago when I was a little shithead and no way was there enough oxygen underneath it to start a fire. Yet when we lifted the fire hydrant, there one of my shirts was, burning away nicely.
Kind of odd, I'm sure there's a logical explaination for it, no idea what though. How something that's completely underneath a 30 or so kilogram metal fire hydrant can catch is beyond me.

Well, while an actual forensic scientist might be able to disect this case with more intuative insight, this goes beyond my knowledge (or lack of) in this area. I'd say much like when people have dreams of running water as an indication that they need to use the bathroom, this dream you had worked in the same manner for you. So I'd just be thankful that it wasn't a dream about smurfs.
I'd say that something like this, you being alone asleep at home and no aparent cause for the fire, might be a varible that is involved with the phenomenon known as Spontaneous Human Combustion. Although, it still is a stubject that scientists are still trying to pin down, the common thread in most cases is individuals being alone when this 'phenomenon' occurs. Now, being the logical s.o.b. that I am, I can't say that it's what happened or what 'almost' happened, but I'm also the kind of guy that would listen to a errie voice coming out of knowhere telling me to get out of my own house!
I realy don't know what to tell you doode. I wouldn't panic, yet I'd do some research to figure out what 'might' have happened.
Man there's too much woerd shit goin on in the world to not have a cause for it.

And let me say that there has to be a logical cause for this event. So I wouldn't pin it on "SHC'. But I will admit that that is seom really wierd shit that happened.

I am very much into spiritual causes as well as supernatural ones. I've also had things happen alot to me, just like what happened to you with the burning. Something definately supernatural, and this is where the whole water/bathroom thing comes into place. I'm a dream freak, and i've been researching on things like these for YEARS. I was also going to make a thread similar to this, but i forgot, i actually might end up doing it.
I would really recommend finding out information on this, whether its reading books, internet, or talking to a doctor. If you want, we can chat via PM.

That's some freaky sh*t. Maybe she meant SHE wasn't 'caught' on fire - but YOU were? People have actualy spontaneously combusted before, and the only explanation was that the fire was related to their own mental power, honestly if what you say is true that's all I could think of.

About Me

how could i have mental powers? and if i do, how did i get them and why am i throwing fire to my blanket trying to kill myself?

0
-about the mental powers thingy- Everyone has 'em (your sixth sense is an example), just sometimes they show up more in some people than others. Like I predict things sometimes before they happen, not intentionally (or I would have focused on the lottery!) but it just comes to me, no joke. I get a lot of de-ja-vu's. But I have no idea why you'd try to set yourself on fire...

One was your window open? and 2 was your blanket a plain one or an electric one? I've heard those are unsafe and easily flamable. I ask about the window being open because maybe a neighbor or someone else was smoking nearby and an updraft picked up an ember and blew it into your room onto your blanket.
I've seen something on the discovery channel about a really really big fire incident that burned a house and barn down, and they had no idea why, and they where trying to figure it out. This was a long long time ago and I guess a house far away that was cooking, and ember got blown from there chimney while they where cooking and got blown a mile or so away and cought the barn on fire. Aside from these two possible causes I don't know what could have caused this, but I'd go with SHC.

Maybe your dad didn't leave to Grocery shop. Maybe he came into your room and lit your blanket on Fire hoping it would burn you. Revenge for you kicking him in the Man-Pouch several times.
