Just picked up another 3 comics that grabed my eye. Mostly for the cover art but out of the 3 my favorite was the MKX.

Think its issue 8 but not sure. MKX Scorpion Killing Havik on the cover. Was interesting read. Picked it up for 3.99.

The other comic i picked up was Venom Marvel 29. Has Venom looking epic with a church bell in the background. In the comic he looks quite bit different then the cover art he's like an assassin using guns, swords bit different then im used to.

The other comic i picked up was Axis Carnage #1 was funny as shit. Was bit different then i expected but he was his grusome self. This comic he wanted to be hero and started feeling emotions/couping with them. It was great read.

I put the Sf2 Turbo comic with the MKX comic. It won't get damaged cause it's in a sleeve with cardboard in between them. Looks nice to flip over to look at each cover. Did the same thing to the Venom and Carnage books.

i recently picked up another 4 comics

Ghost Riders Heaven's Fire Marvel Limted Series 5 of 6. it was an interesting read. plus it had a rider on the front with an eyeball for a head. not sure if he had a name but he was catchy looking.

Spawn The New 252 artwork looked epic. pretty sure its issue 252 it has him standing ontop of a church looking sinister.

The Thanos Imperative Marvel Limited Series 4 of 6. Got it because it's Thanos.

Witchblade Takeru Manga 11 got because she's hot and its very anime like plus she's 1 of my favorite female characters besides psylocke. there was alot of detail in this issue and it was gory.

I wish the movie version looked a bit more like this. The gold was a great addition to a slightly underdone design. The statue looks awesome!

- Marvel Announces "Uncanny X-Men" #600 Release date, Unleashes Variants

After many delays, the monumental "Uncanny X-Men" #600 is finally ready to hit the stands. The over-sized, celebratory issue will arrive on November 4th, bringing with it a dozen variant covers featuring Marvel's mutants at various points throughout their over 50 years of publication.

Some great cover art here. Hard not to appreciate seeing the 80s and 90s line-ups. The action figure variants are fun, too. Iceman was one of the first X-Men action figures I got, and I was very excited. The real figure was better (and came with an ice sled instead of lameass balls, woo!). Not so sure about the comic itself, but the covers sure are fun.

- Marvel Announces "Power Man & Iron Fist" By Walker & Greene

Marvel has announced via Fast Company that Luke Cage and Daniel Rand are teaming up again. The pair will star in a new volume of "Power Man and Iron Fist," written by David Walker with art from Sanford Greene. Walker is currently writing "Cyborg" for DC Comics while Greene handled art duties on Marvel's "Secret Wars" tie-in series "Runaways."

"About a year ago or so, [Marvel editor] Axel Alonso asked me to list all the characters that I wanted to work with the most," said Walker in the Fast Company announcement. "He said, ‘Don’t be limited -- go as big as you want.’ At the very top of that list were Luke Cage and Danny Rand, and I put in parentheses after their names: ‘as a team.’ Because this was something that I’d wanted to see for years and years. That particular duo, they’re so iconic. As a writer, you love interesting characters, and those two characters are so fun to delve into. They are the ultimate bromantic couple."

Yes! Loving the new Iron Fist design, too! Hope they can nail it.

Lots more in the article (including cover art) - check it out!

- 2000AD to reprint banned Cursed Earth stories for the first time!

It looks like Hell has finally frozen over as 2000AD are finally reprinting the banned episodes of The Cursed Earth.

In what must be the most surprising move in comics this year, 2000AD are going to answer every Dredd fan’s dreams next July with the release of the full, uncensored Cursed Earth saga.

The 1978 epic has never been seen in its full form since the original progs were released due to not one, but two run-ins with copyright issues.

Burger Wars saw a satirical conflict between McDonalds and Burger King, while Giants Aren’t Gentlemen incurred the wrath of the Jolly Green Giant corn company.

Both stories resulted in lawsuits, with the settlement meaning neither story could ever be reprinted.

That appears to have now changed.

Written by Pat Mills, John Wagner and Jack Adrian with art by Mike McMahon, Brian Bolland, The Cursed Earth was the first Judge Dredd mega-epic and is still regarded as one of the very best.

Presumably these can now be printed because it's on the public record that The Burger King is a tyrant, and Ronald McDonald regularly engages in gangland executions. Woo!

- Preview: Scooby-Doo Team-Up #13

There’s nothing unusual about ghosts disappearing—but if other ghosts don’t know what happened to them, there’s a mystery afoot! When the Phantom Stranger recruits Scooby and the gang to follow a trail of clues, things get even stranger—like seeing an unexpectedly brave Shaggy leaping acrobatically into the fray (mainly because he’s possessed by the hero known as Deadman)!

On the one hand - I hate the idea of the newer cartoons where the supernatural is actually the supernatural. It's antithetical to everything I know and love about Scooby Doo. On the other hand - this is too awesome to ignore. I think we let this one slide.

- The Guide To The Guide To Comics: Where to Begin a Wizard Retrospective?

The Wizard retrospective has begun with Not Blog X’s G. Kendall. Let’s travel back to the days of Image Comics mania, Batman Returns, and X-Men toys on actual store shelves. Are you brave enough to enter the world of 1992 with the Guide to the Guide to Comics?

Where to begin a Wizard retrospective? The first issue would be an obvious place, but it’s actually not the best choice. The early issues of Wizard are rather humorless, not that different from something published by a store to let customers know about upcoming releases, so there isn’t much in the way of personality. Even the production values are cheap — the glossy paper and color interiors didn’t begin until issue #7. Going through the comics news from that era also isn’t that exciting (Will Robin get an ongoing? Will Valiant succeed with superheroes instead of Super Mario Brothers? Can Chris Claremont script two X-Men books a month?), because Wizard #1 was still a year away from the Image explosion.

If you were reading and collecting throughout the 90s, you probably had an opinion about Wizard Magazine -- good or bad. I joined in a few years late, but always got a kick out of their approach. It probably won't surprise any astute observers to know I'm a believer in magazine culture. If you were a fan, this is the beginning of a fun nostalgia trip -- if you weren't, it might be an interesting education!

- Secret Wars on Infinite Earths: The Demon versus Solomon Grundy

Cyrus Gold lived a wicked life as a citizen of late 19th Century Gotham City. Cursed in death to forever rise from his unmarked grave within Slaughter Swamp - he becomes the mindless, shambling behemoth known as Solomon Grundy!

Born on a Monday some fifty years after his demise the undead Grundy emerged from the muck composed of its rotting contents for the very first time. The zombie-like Grundy was drawn to a new life of evil time and again, possessing super-human strength in his many deaths and rebirths. He is inevitably drawn into conflict with emerging heroes like The Green Lantern, whose magic might could not grapple with Grundy's grim, wood infused corpse!

It was fitting that the ring-wielding hero should be there to bare witness to the return not of Solomon Grundy - but Cyrus Gold - decades later! Something has intervened in the endless cycle, granting Gold a final 7 days to put his soul to rest! Summoned by The Phantom Stranger, Alan Scott must aid Cyrus in his quest to end the vicious curse of Solomon Grundy before The Darkest Night - but the Stranger isn't the only force taking an interest in this weird twist of fate...

This guy showed up for Halloween (Devil's Night, technically) to drone on about superheroes fighting. December is the 10th anniversary of The Comic Book Fight Club. What ever that means!

- Juggernaut versus Colossus: Uncanny X-Men #183

- Beta Ray Bill versus Thor: Thor #337
- Justice League America versus Doomsday: Superman #74

Modern classic fun was had by all.

- Marvel Announces Steve Rogers to Return as Captain America

Steve Rogers will return as Captain America at Marvel Comics this summer, as announced during Tuesday night's "Marvel's Captain America: 75 Heroic Years" special on ABC.

In case you somehow missed it - Steve Rogers is gonna be back in action as Captain America for the 75th anniversary! Sam Wilson'll still be a second Cap, because everybody gets to be Cap for a little while, but the original is back! Woo! (Shame about the costume).

I really don't know if I'm excited for it or not. I love Spencer's Ant-Man, but to me Captain America: Sam Wilson has, at best, been mildly interesting. Spencer used to be an aide to a politician or was a politician himself or something like that. While his political views mesh with Sam Wilson, I've always believed that Steve Rogers needs to be above such nonsense. Steve doesn't give opinions on something like immigration reform, he stops militiamen from hurting illegal immigrants and lets the authorities sort out the rest. His actions should reflect the idea of America; a sort of sepia toned, drum and horn, image of yesteryear that everyone from Bernie Sanders to Rand Paul would look at and say "That is America!" I don't want Spencer to use Cap as some bully-pulpit to relay his notion of what America should be. I hope he honors the character enough not to sully him with politics. Furthermore, the political shots taken in Spencer's work have gotten stale. What used to be cheeky is now just preachy.

Also, the costume is garbage

- The Guide to the Guide to Comics – WIZARD #42 (February 1995)

“And I do hate Lobo. Of course I do. Lobo is a reprehensible character. How could anyone not hate him? The thing is, Lobo was created as an indictment of the sort of mindlessly violent characters you find in too many comics, and instead he became a role model for them.”

I often wish I had this Keith Giffen quote handy -- or any variation of it -- so BOOM!

January was another big month for Secret Wars on Infinite Earths: The Comic Book Fight Club. The 10th Anniversary wasn't just a flash in the pan and the fights continued into 2016. They were:

- The Flash versus Anti-Matter Cannon: Crisis on Infinite Earths #8
- Jessica Jones versus The Owl: The Pulse #14
- Supergirl versus Mary Marvel: Final Crisis #6
- Jimmy Olsen versus Superman: All-Star Superman #4
- Spider-man versus Juggernaut: Amazing Spider-man #230

A few more modern classics, plenty of DC, and lots of fun. I hear Deadpool's coming in Feb.

- DC Comics' Latest "Rebirth" Tease: "It's Not a Reboot"

- WATCH: Johns Declares "Rebirth" "Not Just An Event," but "An Ongoing Mission"

CBR has the exclusive first look at the video, in which Johns compares the goals of "Rebirth" to his previous miniseries "Green Lantern: Rebirth" and "The Flash: Rebirth" -- except applied to the DC Universe as a whole.

- DC Announces Full "Rebirth" Line, Twice-Monthly Books, Lowered Price Point

"Rebirth" stands revealed. DC Comics has pulled the curtain back, revealing the shape and scope of their line of superhero comics after the status-quo redefining "Rebirth" launches in May. Following the release of the $2.99, 80-page "DC Universe: Rebirth" #1 on May 25, DC Comics will begin to roll out "Rebirth" specials" and new #1 issues for their ongoing series. Although as CBR exclusively revealed, two series -- "Detective Comics" and "Action Comics" -- will return to their original numbering.

Here's hoping this lives up to the hype. The last five years really left my love for DC heroes and the universe shredded. Love the price drops, love the return of classic numbering - still skeptical about what we're really going to see. Dragging it out with more books and more #1 issues doesn't quite gel with getting back to business, but we'll see. Probably would've preferred a tight six issue mini, and a straight forward return to pre-Flashpoint and New 52 shenanigans.

For the most part I enjoyed Trinity of Sin and Forever Evil, though the connection between the two was just stupid. Trinity of Sin should have been a wholly mystical event and Forever Evil could have been a straight up Invasion. Still, I enjoyed the prominence of The Phantom Stranger and the Question, as well as villains taking centre stage for a bit.

Convergence on the other hand, I just couldn't do it. It was just so contrived and convoluted and you could tell the whole thing was just born out of regret of the New 52. "Hey kids, wanna see the Silver Age Hawks again? Wanna see the word Thanagar in a comic book again? How about Jay Garrick and the Justice Society? Well, they're sort of back but not really and fuck you for not liking the new stuff."

- Black Canary: Kicking and Screaming Official Music

Get to Know Black Canary, the band behind Black Canary Vol. 1: Kicking and Screaming!

Who is Black Canary? Great question. If you’re an average music fan, you probably know that the band is a four-piece out of Gotham’s hippest suburb, Burnside, with a brand new, critically acclaimed EP Kicking and Screaming.

Well, with their newfound success Black Canary is ready to take the show on the road, and will be touring with their explosive debut! Check out the band live for a show you’ll never forget!

DISCLAIMER: You may also have heard that hitting a Black Canary gig is a potentially dangerous endeavor if untrained in self-defense. Um, this is true, but go anyway!

I love this! Great gimmick in support of a vibrant, fresh take. Probably won't survive.

- "Fantastic Four," "Avengers" Artist Paul Ryan Passes Away

Paul Ryan, a comic book artist for lengthy runs on several Marvel Comics titles, passed away Sunday. He was 66.

Ryan began a lengthy career with Marvel Comics in 1985 by inking two issues of "The Thing." He then landed his first ongoing series as penciler with "Squadron Supreme" in 1986. In 1987 he illustrated "Amazing Spider-Man Annual" #21 -- the wedding of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson. He then launched "D.P.7" with writer Mark Gruenwald as part of Marvel's "New Universe" line, sticking with that series until its end in 1989. Ryan then began simultaneous runs on "Avengers," "Avengers West Coast" and "Quasar." He penciled both "Avengers" titles until 1991, when he switched over to begin stints as the artist on both "Iron Man" and "Fantastic Four." Ryan made his mark on "FF" with a notable five-year body of work on the title.

Really shocked! Only 66! A very underrated artist, in my opinion. Great fundamentals that could really be stunning with the right inker. Was a big fan of his early nineties Marvel stuff: Avengers, Iron Man. Will always remember him as a rock solid Fantastic Four artist during my prolonged FF fandom. He was still really knocking it out of the park on The Phantom strips, too. So sad.
