This is the new set of rules for the MK Online picture system. Anyone and everyone who wants to use this system from this point on had better read this and know what is allowed and what is not. I'm not responsible for anyone who decides to not read this, because it's posted right here. If an image you submitted gets deleted, or you get warned / banned, and it's because you didn't read this, that's your problem.

I want to make clear that I'm not trying to be a hard-ass about this, but I'm continuing to see too much bullshit being submitted to this system. This is supposed to be a way for users to get to know each other, what people like, who they are, ect. I'm trying my best to encourage that, and unfortunatly having to get strict with this system has become the only way to encourage people to use the system properly.

I also want to make clear that I will not tolerate any complaining about the system, or any actions I take with it. PM me, or post suggestions / ideas in this thread. Also, these rules can be revised at any time I feel they need to be.

1) How to use the system

In your profile settings, you'll see links to view and upload images. When you upload, select the image file, give an optional caption describing the image, and upload. After that, anyone can view your image.

If you want to delete the image later on, simply click the [X] to do so in your profile settings. You can then replace the image with a new one.

If you do not have a Flawless account, you're limited to only one picture for each section. Members with Flawless accounts are allowed to have multiple pictures for each section. (If this has changed, let me know).

If you have a shadow ban against you, your images will be blocked from viewing until the ban is lifted.

2) General Rules - These rules apply to all images uploaded to the site. All images that violate any of these rules will be deleted, and the user given a warning / ban if necessary.

- Check to make sure the image uploaded. Sometimes an image will get corrupted during upload, for a variety of reasons. If this happens, the image will not show up even though the system will say you have one. ( I use FireFox, which does not display corrupt images, I don't know about IE ). When I check the list of uploaded images, and I find an image that doesn't show up, I'm deleting it, so make sure it goes through, and delete / re-upload if it doesn't.

- Do not upload images that attack other members of this site. Do not upload any images that attack other websites. I won't have the risk of a site war between us and another site happen because you have a grudge against someone from here or another site. Keep that shit out of here. If you violate this, you'll get a warning. Second time, a ban.

- Do not upload an image you did not make and claim it as your own. This follows the Fan Art guidelines. Anyone who is found to be stealing images and claming them as their work will be instantly banned.

- No sexual images / pornography. I don't care if the woman is wearing a thong. If her bare ass can still be seen clearly, it's not allowed. If I have to make a judgement call on it, I may give a warning. Post blatant porn however, and it's an instant ban.

- Do not upload officially released images. I'm talking images that game companies release (Midway, Capcom, ect), or images that can be found on almost every major site that deals with them (IGN, Gamespot, ect). This rule is a result of the massive amounts of the same MK-related images being submitted over and over again. A shitload of sites are going to have these images, I will not have them being repeated over and over again in this system, when all it does is waste space and bandwidth. If people want to see these images, they can find them pretty much anywhere. Be original here.

Limits on image types and sizes:

- The only file types allowed are JPG, GIF, and PNG. Do not upload a 24-bit Windows BMP file. Do not rename the file extention in an attempt to fool me into thinking it's valid. There are ways to find out what kind of file it really is. Images that are not a valid format get deleted.

- No image is to exceed these size limits: 1280 x 1024 width and height, and 300 KB. 1280 x 1024 is the size of a lot of desktop wallpapers, and they don't even amount to 300 KB, so I'm being lenient. Any image that exceeds these limits, even by 1 pixel or 1 byte in size, is getting deleted.

- Do not submit an image with excessive whitespace. I don't mind images having borders, but do not upload a massive image and have 3 / 4 of it being nothing but whitespace. I'll try to be as lenient as possible about this, but if I decide your image has too much blank space, it's gone. Images such as sprites / sprite sheets or anything that uses a blank background is fine, but do not push it too far.

- Be descriptive with captions. Are you in an image with 10 other people? Then point out who you are. Do not just say "me and my boys" and not say who's who. You get a maximum of 255 characters to make a comment, get the most out of it. Rules apply to captions the same way they do images. I'm not going to delete an image if it doesn't have a caption, or if it's not descriptive, but it makes it easier for everyone else to know what it's about.

3) Image section rules - These are specific rules that apply to each section of the system. Images must follow the rules of that section as well as the general rules.

Personal / Portrait - This is to be a photograph of you. And when I say photograph, I mean photograph! No drawings, cartoons, or anything that isn't made from a camera pointed at a human being. Do not obscure your face. Do not photoshop the image to obscure your face. If you don't want people to know what you look like, then do not upload anything to this section. Hats and shades are fine, but if I can't tell exactly what you look like, then it's getting deleted.

Desktop - This is to be either a screenshot of your desktop, or a desktop wallpaper. It must be at least 800 x 600, and no bigger than 1280 x 1024. Anything smaller or larger by even 1 pixel gets deleted, so make sure it's correct. If you found the wallpaper from a site, try to give the address of the site in case someone would like to check it out. The rule above about officially released images above applies to wallpapers, with the ONLY exception being if it's a screenshot of your actual desktop, and not the wallpaper itself.

Family / Friends - These are to be photographs of people you know, you're related to, ect. Again, photographs! These images are to be of people, pets, living things. Stuffed animals don't count. MK characters don't count. The bottle of vodka I keep in my cupboard doesn't count. Be considerate about posting images here. This images will be viewable to the public, and some people might not want their faces posted on the internet. I can't enforce that, but be considerate.

Other - I really don't care what gets posted here, as long as it follows the rules. Any random image can go here. Again, as long as it follows the rules.

Sig Images (Flawless Accounts only) - Rules on sigs in the community FAQ apply here. Violation of this results in a shadow ban.

4) Important Notes

- Images are not getting grandfathered. Meaning that if you uploaded an image yesterday, and it violates these rules as of today, then you're not off the hook. Fix it before I remove it. I'm not going to go through and make a list of every image on this site that was uploaded before today. I will continue to go through the system and remove images that do not follow these rules.

- This is a working draft, some shit may not be completely clear. I've tried to get it as good as possible. If you have any questions, suggestions, anything, either PM me about it, or post it here. Don't whine, bitch, or overly complain, because I'll ignore it.

- If I feel the need to change something, I'll keep the date of this thread updated each time I do. And that's probably going to happen by next week.
