Hey guys...
I know I havent been around for awhile and one of the main reasons why is me, my father, and my brother were in the process of opening a new business. The place is called GAME KNIGHTS. Its like an arcade, but with console gaming. We have 8 XBOXs linked together in 2 different stations for games like Halo(We have Halo tournaments every Saturday). We also have 5 or 6 tvs lined against the wall that are now have online capabilities. We also have some PS2s, but only one Gamecube, no one ever plays it. We also have a 10ft screen that looks crystal clear w/ surround sound. Playing MKDA or NFSU on that thing is crazy. We also have a pool table and a dart board during game breaks. We have somewhat of a consession stand where we sells tons of candy and some hot food like cup of noodles and hot pockets. Suprisingly the first month,we made enough money from admission and food to pay all the bills, rent alone is $1500. Right now we have a maxium limit by law of 50 people and by the second month we hit that limit. So every looks good. We've only been open a couple of months though and things get better every month. We plan on increasing the amount of TVs and consoles and TVs very soon. Ill try to add some pics of the place later.
Sorry for the novel, lol. Just thought you guys would like to know and how you guys feel about it

Excellent idea man, good luck to yinz.
Good luck with the business. Owning a business of own is something I'd like to do, not quite sure what type it would be yet though...
One thing my city does need, though, is a hang-out for youths, like kids aged 12-18, so they have a choice to do something other than go out and get in trouble or get drunk or screw each other or whatever. Just a place to meet and chat, not necessarily have to participate in one obligatory activity or another.
But this city's youth is going to hell, fast, and I hear places like the one I'm thinking of help slow it down. Basically just a social club without the drinks, where kids can meet and do shit (like play video games). There's no place kids can go out and hang out with each other anymore, no malt shops, no arcades, nothing. Might be a good thing to give them some place they can go, and maybe the youth will stop feeling disconnected from one another in some way.

One of the main reasons my father wanted to open. The cool thing is that Im still only 17, so this is going to help me out alot in the future. I get the place to myself in a few months and my father is going to open another one.

yep, my town id going underground, the youths here are constantly getting into trouble, i would know i'm one of them (but i'm a good boy). anyways the logo is kickass, i wish my town had something to do with video games, since we don't i've started my own project. build my own arcade machine. you should really try that, buy some games and stick a pc inside an arcade cabinet. it would draw alot of attention. check out arcadecontrols.com for more info. BEST OF LUCK MAN!!!

Hey Dante, since you have your own business which is video game related. You are eligible to go to the E3 in LA, CA. The deadline for registeration is April 14. I know you live on the other side of the country, but I thought I should just let you know.

Thats really cool Dante. Mind if I ask how you do charge for admission though? I wouldn't really conside it like an arcade since console and PC's don't have coin slots. I'm just curious as how it is done, is it like a amusment park with a set price for a day of admission, or what?

Whats interesting is how many of these types of businesses there are around where I live. This one opened right by my house and I swear it is a cult. I go in there and try to socialize and the ppl are like "Can't talk, must play counter strike...." They're fuckin zombies in there. Not all the ones are like that but make sure you get some cool ppl in yours. Also the one by my house has a fountain pop machine, which is such a good idea, along with vending machines and a cooler. This place is a mix of PC gaming and console gaming btw.

Actually what we charge is pretty cheap, $10 for all day admsission. On Mon-Thurs we are open from 5-10, Friday is 5-12, Saturday is 12-12, and Sunday is 12-6. For tournaments we do charge $20, but that includes admission to the tournament and to play all the other games you want, so basically, an additional $10 to get into tournaments. This is a full time thing for me, I am there well over 50 hours a week, for a 17 year old, thats a hell of a lot of time to be spending at work. Lately theonly time Im home is when I sleep, other than that its school and my girl. Ive forgotten what a home cooked meal taste like, lol. I know in the end, all of the time spent will be well worth it. BTW, my grandfather said he may take the name and open up another one and a customers father is interested in opening one up in Georgia, which is freakin awesome.
