Owen Wilson attempts to Commit Suicide

HOLLYWOOD star Owen Wilson has been rushed to hospital after cutting his wrists and taking a lot of pills during a suicide attempt at his Santa Monica house, according to the National Enquirer and Star Magazine.

The report claims that he was discovered by a family member who summoned help.

Police and an ambulance responded to a 911 call from Owen's house around noon on Sunday and witnesses claims that his wrist was sutured and bandaged at the hospital.

Gossip website TMZ released this statement from Santa Monica Police:

"On Sunday Aug. 26. 2007 at 12.10pm officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a medical assistance call from the Santa Monica Fire Department at the 900 block of 23rd Street.

The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated." TMZ has learned the 911 call came in at 11.59am to the L.A. Fire Department.

National Enquirer editor-in-chief David Perel tells gossip website PerezHilton.com:

“Owen Wilson has now been transferred from St. John’s to another Los Angeles area hospital. His brothers Andrew and Luke are with him.

“Andrew found him after the suicide attempt and called an ambulance. Both of Owen’s wrists were slashed superficially and Owen had taken an overdose of pills.

“Owen was found with a nearly empty bottle of pills next to him. He was at his house in Santa Monica.”

Wilson is in a stable condition.

Personally I think Owen is a great actor and I was shocked when I heard this. I heard he did it because he broke up with his girlfriend or something.

who cares, actors these days don't give a shit about life becuase no matter what they do they will always be famous. Brittney Spears, Lohan... all do stupid shit with their lives yet they're still getting paid hundreds even thousands of dollars every day because they are actors. I can't wait til im an actor so i can shut every one up and become the most powerful actress ever without doing drugs and sex for fame.

I think sub-Frost is right. All these stars have lots of time on their hands and all the money they could handle.

So what do they do? They try doing drugs and driving in irrational ways in order to fill the empty void in their lives.

Now I am not saying all celebrities are like that. There are lots of respectable celebrities, look at Angelena Jo Lie or Jackie Chan or Frank Sinatra. Tons of good people. But I think alot of money, fame, and attention around a person who is intellectually incapable of handling things like this may fall into bad habbits.

This is sad, I feel horrible when someone tries do end their life, Life now days is rough lots of everyday stress, lately everywhere I go..nobody has a smile on their face or friendly to help you out, I don't know why I can't talk I'm going through a lot myself, so actors and stars have the same kinda crap in life such as us, it's really a shame! Too bad nothing can be solved sometimes, but as long as he's okay. never would of thought Owen Wilson would attempt this though. :(

Wow, I've didn't expected this from him of all people. Never saw this coming at all. Goes to show that even all that money and attention doesn't give you happiness. And for whoever it was that said They do this on purpose, I don't honestly see what doing something as potentially fatal as this has to do with "filling the void" in there lives. This shows that the yare just as human as everyone else, regardless of the paycheck and TV time they get.

I have no sympathy....if you want to kill yourself you should atleast succeed or dont even try.

Suicide is illegal anyway so is he going to jail for attempted suicide or getting a little fine that is nothing too him.

Although I totally see what you're saying, not ALL celebs are bad, arrogant pricks. Yes a lot of them are indeed but not all.

Often I've found between pro athletes and movie stars, the athletes seem to have more people with morals then movie stars do. Example, Jeter, Rizzuto(recently passed), Jordan, Willie Mays, Gretzky. Of course you have your cheaters, liers and arrogant idiots like Bonds, Vicks etc but I don't see too many nice movie actors/actresses that are humble, take their job with pride. More often then not they bath in their power, money and think they're better then everyone else. Especially the dumb ones that state their political view to try to sway the general public..ohh if Barbara Striesand says it it must be true...please.

I'm sure there are some nice movie people out there, just not many.

Yeah, I have trouble finding any pity for those who've killed themselves. I think Henry Rollins said it best;

"When people commit suicide I wish I could bring them back to life... not to hug them and say how much I miss them, but to beat the shit out of them."

People with major problems who seek help, yeah, I've got lots of sympathy and respect for people like that. But suicide and pathetic cries for help like this just piss me off.furious
