Pending Draft Legislation Targeted for Spring 2005
The Draft will Start in June 2005
There is pending legislation in the House and Senate (twin bills: S 89 and HR 163) which will time the program's initiation so the draft can begin at early as Spring 2005 -- just after the 2004 presidential election. The administration is quietly trying to get these bills passed now, while the public's attention is on the elections, so our action on this is needed immediately.
$28 million has been added to the 2004 Selective Service System (SSS) budget to prepare for a military draft that could start as early as June 15, 2005. Selective Service must report to Bush on March 31, 2005 that the system, which has lain dormant for decades, is ready for activation. Please see website: www.sss.gov/perfplan_fy2004.html to view the sss annual performance plan - fiscal year 2004.
The pentagon has quietly begun a public campaign to fill all 10,350 draft board positions and 11,070 appeals board slots nationwide.. Though this is an unpopular election year topic, military experts and influential members of congress are suggesting that if Rumsfeld's prediction of a "long, hard slog" in Iraq and Afghanistan [and a permanent state of war on "terrorism"] proves accurate, the U.S. may have no choice but to draft.
Congress brought twin bills, S. 89 and HR 163 forward this year, http://www.hslda.org/legislation/na...s89/default.asp entitled the Universal National Service Act of 2003, "to provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons [age 18--26] in the United States, including women, perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes." These active bills currently sit in the committee on armed services.
Dodging the draft will be more difficult than those from the Vietnam era.
College and Canada will not be options. In December 2001, Canada and the U.S. signed a "smart border declaration," which could be used to keep would-be draft dodgers in. Signed by Canada's minister of foreign affairs, John Manley, and U.S. Homeland Security director, Tom Ridge, the declaration involves a 30-point plan which implements, among other things, a "pre-clearance agreement" of people entering and departing each country. Reforms aimed at making the draft more equitable along gender and class lines also eliminates higher education as a shelter. Underclassmen would only be able to postpone service until the end of their current semester. Seniors would have until the end of the academic year.
Even those voters who currently support US actions abroad may still object to this move, knowing their own children or grandchildren will not have a say about whether to fight. Not that it should make a difference, but this plan, among other things, eliminates higher education as a
shelter and includes women in the draft.
The public has a right to air their opinions about such an important decision.
Please send this on to all the friends, parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents, and cousins that you know. Let your children know too -- it's their future, and they can be a powerful voice for change!
Please also contact your representatives to ask them why they aren't telling their constituents about these bills -- and contact newspapers and other media outlets to ask them why they're not covering this important story.
Personally I'm not too worried. They've been trying to get the draft re-instated for years to no avail. But if it does pass, whee-haw, I'm gonna gets me a gun!

Hey cowboy, there's no draft.

It's Election year the media will say and do anything just to get George W. Bush out of office. Why do people hate him? He's the most down to earth president we ever had IMO.And dont say Bill Clinton was the most down to earth president all because he smoked cigars and banged his clients.
About Me
The kangster is back brotha
0
I dont believe this krap bro, although the conservative media wouldn't touch this subject anyways since it is near election time.
0
Even if there is a draft, there no hurt in pretending to be gay to skip serving
. Although, I'm sure I can find a number of other ways to get myself discharged even if I do get drafter and don't like it, so I'm not worried.

Positive. Why do you think the Republicans started that stupid ass witch hunt?? Because even they couldn't knock what he did in office. He was the best we have had in a long time, and he helped fix a lot of things.

So you rather have someone lying to you and trying to fit in the so called "in crowd" like Kerry? If Kerry is President another 9/11 will happen. The only reason the Democrats picked him to be there runner was because his Wife is rich.Without her Kerry would be broke. She owns Heinz Ketchup.

Thank god you can't vote for a while.

They didnt start searching for WMD to just get back at Clinton. These Terriost guys may look dumb but there smart.Just last week they released a weapon that can poison the air in Iraq.If Bill Clinton fixed alot of things why do we still have these problems:
1.Bin Laden could have been caught back in '98 he appeared on NBC Dateline. He even wanted to turn himself in but Clinton said "He's not too dangerous let him go".
2.9/11 If Clinton wasnt busy getting a Blow Job by Monica Lewinsky I am sure 9/11 would have been stopped.Maybe Bush could have stopped it but he just got in office at that time.
==============
My dad's friend just got back from Iraq.He said it's nothing like the news describes it.It's not bad like they say it is.He dosent care for one thing though. He dosent like the way people take Soliders for granted.I agree 100% with on that.We need to support them more.He got alot of money out of it too.He put Spinners on his truck.

No man I meant because they couldn't knock what Clinton did in office they started a witch-hunt over the Lewinsky thing..
Also, Clinton did try and warn about Osama but they didn't listen, and guess what? Bush is to blame, because he could have stopped it. Clinton warned them all, so you can't say he slept on it and Bush woulda done something about it.

Ah...the key word Warned. He should have took action instead of warning people.Everyone knew Clinton lied about that "I did not have sexual intercourse with that women."Let me break it down for you:
Clinton in office for 8 years. He did alot of stuff during those 8 years.
2000 Bush comes in office. He probably took Clinton's word on everything and thought things were a-okay(does anyone say that anymore LOL).You see Clinton was a great lyer he could make you beleive everything.September 11,2001 comes lives are lost.It was a shock to everyone.Everyone thought Clinton was doing a good job.All because Bush was in office at that time dosent mean he had stuff do with it.You gotta look at what came before Bush. Then you'll have your answer.PM me if you want to talk more about it.We're getting a little off topic in this thread.

lol yes we are getting a bit off topic but it's ok, cause I like you, and we're not flaming.
Anyways, I think the important thing is this:
Clinton warned the Bush administration as well as the other agencies involved.
Bush was warned but they didn't really care or take it seriously. I don't know.
Nobody is really to blame for 9/11 because they would strike someday/somewhere/sometime. It's just Bush and Co could have taken some actions, knowing terrorists were going to use planes and such they could have stepped up security in advance. (Again tho the terrorists would have just done something else)
So he warned people about the danger but, at the same time mind you, also said everything was a-okay? Never in my life have I seen such a ridiculously contradictory statement.

There taking it serious now though.Bush has to Drop that Atomic Bomb.Im tired of hearing our soliders getting killed and looking for Bin laden. They didnt know The Terriost were going to use plane's.Nobody would have thought something like that would have happen. In 2001 did you ever think someone would come in our country and do that?I never did think something like that could EVER happen. We caught Saddam now where the hell is Bin Laden?I think he's dead personally.Or hiding some place.I think Bush is going to wait untill June this year after the soliders come home to drop that bomb.
It may sound harsh knowing little kids are going to get killed. But there parents are teaching them and training them to be future terriosts.*Joe from FG voice* BRING IT ON!

The thing is we're REBUILDING at the moment while trying to clear out little pockets or resistance at the same time. An atomic bomb would totally make rebuilding impossible. However, firing missles at the buildings that house the little pockets of resistance I have no problem with. Sure we have to rebuild the building, but I'd rather that than go in a kill a few of us trying to clear them out.
