Did you think Passion of the Christ was a good movie or a bad movie?

I tohught it was horrible. I go to the theatre to watch something that keeps me sitting down refusing to go to the snack area to get a refill on my soda. Not to watch something that makes me leave the room and say Mel Gibson is fucked in the head. I don't really think the death of Jesus is a good idea for a movie.

What did you think about the film?

After watching it, I can say Mel Gibson is twisted. To me, it looked like nothing more than a propaganda movie.

As a movie, it was pretty damn good.

As a story, it sucked. People 'changed' the way they lived over this movie, and that's a shame. If any movie was going to do that, it shouldn't have been about Christ's death, but his accomplishments in life.

As a Christian and as a major in history & classical history I enjoyed it.

Very accurately portrayed, and very well done in terms of cinematography (sp?). The artistic license didn't go too far - I have seen some Biblical stories be completely butchered because of it.

It didn't have any major effect on me other than thinking: "That was an accurate description".

Btw, in case you were wondering, I think Mel toned down the violence. Some of the records kept about the Roman floggings and the 'typical' crucifixions are very graphic indeed.

As a Christian, you should be offended that Mel Gibson was using Jesus' pain and suffering as a moneymagnet.

Everyone has their own views on that. Id have to go with the majority of his fans who watched it and say it was a very well put together movie. He made everyone appreciate what Jesus Christ has done for the world a little bit more.

it was good lol u people are twisted do u think his death was a cake walk it said when he hung on the cross he didn't look human. This movie was truely accurate and wasn't supose to be for enjoyment. Mel did a wonderful thing. It was good on its accuracy not its content. But thats wat jesus did for us.

People have been appreciating what Jesus has done since the day he died. The Passion of the Christ attempted the worst way to remind them and that movie triumphed. My dad was mad at me because i had a choice of this movie and Dawn of the Dead and I choice movie #2 instead. about a week later, i saw the Passion of the Christ and regretted it.

I lack to see how a snuff film can be either enjoyable nor entertainment. If it was someone else up there, you'd be disgusted. Religion was used to temper your gold.

I like this film a lot... It was very straight forward and it was 97% accurate, it had a few flaws but they where very minor...

As for the violence, there actually wasnt enough to acuratly portrait the death of Christ, according the gospels he was beaten beyond reconition... as was almost all crucifixtion sufferers... the account of the effects of the cat'o'nine tails on human flesh was accurate and more...

As for some people saying they dont see how this movie changed peoples lives, it should have been his life... well i respect ur alls opinions on this, so this is my own... A film about Christs life would have changed people and let people have an insight into what Jesus was, but however his death is the crowning achievement of his life, he came to earth specifically to die for mans sins so that he could be born again and that no man would have to go before a priest to go before God, hence the veil being torn in the temple upon Christs death... Christs death had a vast signifigance on peoples lives and souls and for a person to see what he suffered for each and every person alive is what changed lives, to know that this happened to a person so that they could be rewarded in the end...

Dont get me wrong though, im not saying that Christ was just meant to die and not do anything before hand, which most u probably know that time was spent teaching the masses about the word of God and what he was called to do...

How can someone rather see a movie made about how Jesus lived if there are 20+ movies already made on his life?

Anyway, a lot of people seem to have missed the point of the movie. The movie wasn't meant to show a two-hour torture scene, but to depict how much Jesus really loved us. All the miracles, all the healing, all the preaching... it would have all been worth shit if Jesus had not died on the cross and resurrected. That's all that mattered. That's why he became human. His death was the ultimate lesson in love. Would you go through all that for someone you cared for?

But I won't get religious, I'm just explaining why the movie was focused on the passion. If that was too gruesome for you, then boo hoo. You knew it was going to be violent before you saw the movie. I think if most people who call themselves "Christians" really had the slightest idea of how much Jesus loved them, they wouldn't live as they do. It's easy to say you believe some thing, but to live it...

Beliefs are worth shit to me.

As somebody who doesn't believe in religion, I watched it without getting pissed off about any of it.

I've never read the bible, doubt I ever will, so I'll take the word of the people here who said it was accurate. I enjoyed the movie, it was very graphic but that's how life is. Barely noticed the fact that I was reading the subtitles, but I read alot so I guess it wouldn't bother me anyways. I enjoyed it, it's a very sad story, but life isn't all fun and games as everybody here should know.

For the record - While I don't believe in religion myself, I'm not against it in the slightest. So nobody bother to whinge at me for my beliefs, I'll just ignore you.

I liked Dawn of the Dead and the remake. Ya know, South Park made fun of The Passion of the Christ. That was probably the most meaningful episode of South Park but not so funny

Yeah... I thought it was fucking stupid for people to get pissed off about it. If you didn't like the message or didn't agree with it's depiction of history, don't go see it. Then again, there probably were a bunch of idiots who decided it would be a good idea to go out and attack Jewish people after seeing it.

I thought it was among the BEST movies I have ever seen. Having said that, I don't consider it one of my FAVORITE movies. I just thought that was a flick that was very, VERY well done, well acted, etc., but there are COUNTLESS other movies that I would rather watch over and over again before I see it again. It's like saying MGS1 was a very good videogame, but I didn't enjoy it much. The difference is that I enjoyed Passion of the Christ VERY much, and it was the first movie in 10+ years (after Schindler's List) that actually impacted me in a way.

The hard thing of this movie is to look inside it...it doesn't mean you have to be religious to understand...just don't watch it with superficiality...and you can't remain indifferent.

I'm with mistersatan666 on this. I just didn't like the way it was put together. I thought it was also on the long end or maybe it was just the pacing. I also thought lighting could've improved but then again when I saw it I had just watched "Se7en" an that was dark so maybe that affected my viewing. I'll have to see it again at home where I have it set to my preferences. I didn't really have that much of a problem with the editing. The acting I think is what sold the film.

I thought it was the best depiction of Jesus' crucifixion ever, Gibson. Gibson just took what was written in the 4 gospels and simply put it on the screen. It was a pretty accurate movie, but like Ghaleon said, it did have minor parts that weren't written in the bible, but who cares,no one was paying attention to that anyway, they were mainly focused on Jesus and his eventual sacrifice.

Overall though, it was a great movie and well directed

Gosh what more you want spot lights. There was no electric back then and thats how dark it would be at night. This movie was so accurate in ever way you look at it. Mel worked 10-11 years on prepare this asking people about it searchging the bible etc... Idk what you people were expecting probably lil furry bunnies hopping around birds chirping Jesus singing while he was crucified everyone smiling. Also you probably wanted it in English I was amazed when they did it in a different language I liked it that way. Because thats how it was. Also I always thought that the romans wanted Jesus dead and it was the JEws that fought to kill him. THis Movie shocked and amazed me. Gahelon Is right on with everything he said. I'm glad I went and seen this movie and I'm gonna buy it when it comes out. Also if you thought it was graphic the way the bible tells it I bet it could of been more graphic then it was because It said he was beating beyond belief and when he died on the cross he didn't look human at all because he was so bloody and beated. If that woulkd of been anyone else they probably would of died from loss of blood after the whipping. But he was supose to live until 3 hrs on the cross. He did that because he loved us and that was the main reason of the film not for ur enjoyment but to show how much one man in heaven loves you all everyone of us smile
