I hate politicians, because this seems to be a nice, easy, wide open target for them to start a platform and get thier names out, and pick up a few votes. I think I saw that mini-game on X-Play or somewhere, but it was heavily censored, so I was curious about it. I could tell it was from San Andreas, though. I just didn't know how to access it. Now I know I can't.

Man, these politicians must be more bored than I am right now if they want a game that's been out for AGES to be rated higher.

Whats great is that my dad doesnt care what I buy, I mean im 17 years old I can handle video games. And my dad knows that, thats why I just go with him to get my games, and they always ask "Is it allright for him to play this?". It's really dumb...but doesnt affect me.

I am so glad i got the game when it was rated M. Hopefully it still is going to be rated M though. I don't really notice the Adult rated stuff anyways when I play it. All I do really is drive car, blow things up... Not really into the hooker thing but hey that's just me.

I have a feeling that this has a lot to do with GTA's popularity. This politician probably wants to look good and get recognition by taking down a big franchise...

Actually I think the part politicians object to is the influence violent games might have on kids, not how much that violence disturbs them. Since ripping someone's head off is a lot less realistic than shooting someone, MK is probably less likely to influence kids than GTA is.

I guess it is just a lame way for him to get a few more votes from "concerned parents"... and increase interenet piracy...

I've seen it on G4Tecghtv's Atack of the Show. They previewed it, after gamespot had it listed in their rumor control secction a few weeks ago, and said it was bogus. They're wanted to show that it wasn't, but they did censor it. I thought it was both the Xbox and PC version. Personally I really don't care if politicians are trying to get it an AO rating. I really think it's borderline tobegin with. The probelm is that the ESRB never gives out an AO rating, and game developers seem to wantot avaid it att all costs because the media will pick up on it, and the game would possibly be banded. I don't want games to be banded in genral, but I really think that the AO rating is useless if there not going to use it. I for one would like to see game developers start pushing the rating limit for their games for the adult audiance. I'm sure we could start getting entertainling games with over the top nudity, and really crude humor.

I remember the article about the Latvian kids killing someone, and supposedly having been influenced by MK, but I don't remember all the specifics. Was it a scissor kick and a broken neck? If so, that could be attributed to any fighting game.

My point had more to do with the example you suggested: Fatalities. In reality, what kid young enough to actually be influenced by MK even could pull off any Fatality from MK? In MK, everything- the physics, the characters' abilities, the actual volume of blood spilled- is exaggerated and unrealistic.

And as for who the politician is, it's a guy named Leland Yee, a California Assemblyman; in other words, on the level of state government, not federal.
