A friend of mine had her firefighter friend die in that fire I believe.

Nineteen firefighters, whatever they may have done in their lives, they lost themselves trying to stop something terrible. It is a fact that should give them much respect, for many would prefer leaving peacefully.

Respect.

Blaze of glory...

I've heard about this on the radio. Normally I watch the news, but we haven't had TV for a month.

I figured this'd have a few more replies. Perhaps nobody cares cause Nature took them, not terrorists.

The only survivor was off getting the truck. What do you tell dispatch?

Such a sad story! These men were remarkable- working in 120-degree heat, wearing 50lbs of gear, battling a fire.

From what I understand, the firefighters were between a rock and a hard place. A dry thunderstorm was nearby (fires can actually create their own weather systems) , and thunderstorms are known to create very strong and erratic winds, which caused the fire to suddenly shift direction and overtake the men.

May they all rest in peace, and thanks to all the firefighters out there who put their lives on the line for people they don't even know. The world is a better place because of firemen.

That's why I give these guys a hell of a lot of respect. A bit more than the police to be honest.

Well, yeah. Firemen aren't going to give you a ticket. Plus, it's nice to see them washing the truck on a hot summer's day without their shirts on
