Yea, i've never had a problem with my PS1 or 2 and if you're cleaning it with windex or sometype of cleaner than that's probably why they mess up. I cleaned it like three months ago for the first time, it's been working fine ever since I got it. It plays any playstation and playstation2 games, so...something else might be going on that you don't know.

The CD game problem is a know issue, and as I stated earlier, some systems get the problem and some don't, regardless of how well you take care of it.

There's a reason most games now are on DVD...even when they can fit on CD.

I'm still on my second PS2 which I got a couple of years ago. The first one went down in 2002, and from what I gathered then, one of the main reason why my PS2 stopped working had something to do with my using it more as a DVD player than a gaming system, and that the lens got scratched up by the different types of discs (DVD, Blue bottom, and PS1 black bottom). Now I don't know if any of that was true or not, but since I've gotten my second one I have not watched any movies on it and it is strickly a gaming unit. Plus DVDs look and sound so much better on a real DVD player than a gaming system.

My 'Cube has withstood the the test of time, and hasn't failed me once since day one. I heard of some problems with the first series of X-Box's but no where near as many as PS2. And honestly, Quirk's post was the first time I've heard of a deffective Cube, but it doesn't surprise me. Nothing is ever perfect, not even Nintendo.

As much as I love my PS2, its pissing me off because I cant play games like Tekken Tag and Marvel vs Capcom 2. I pray to god that MAT2 and Sf anneversary arent blue discs. Otherwise IM gona take my PS2 apart.

The problem is blue discs are lighter and spin faster than regular DVD-Roms, so the magnets in the tray don't hold them, resulting in scratched disc and laser...
to solve this, just apply two strips of scotch tape (approx. 5 cm long) parallel to eachother on two sides of the center hole, so they make an 'H'. I've done this with my blue-bottomed games, and they work perfectly.

Man, I bought my Xbox three years ago(when it first came out), my Gamecube last year and my PS2 just last month. The thing is that the Xbox and Gamecube have been dropped several times and they still work as good as the day I bought them! My PS2 barely has a month and it can't play my games anymore, and it hasn't been dropped! What's with Sony, do they make the systems out the cheapest crap they can buy or are they just lazy?! See, I was shocked when my PS2 failed because it was brand new and it was never damaged. So i just sold the $200 excuse of an entertainment system to a recycling company. It's not like I'll be missing much anyway, the GTA series is also on Xbox and San Andreas will probably come out sometime next year for the X.

ALL HAIL BILL GATES AND HIS WONDERFUL MICROSOFT XBOX WHICH IS MADE WITH ONLY THE PUREST GRADE A PARTS OF THE WORLD, ESE!

LETS NOT FORGET NINTENDO WHO MAKES BETTER QUALITY SYSYEMS THAN SONY AND OWNS THE RIGHTS TO OLD SCHOOL'S SONIC AND MARIO BROS, MI HIJO! grin

Try watching the 20th Anniversary version of Tron on PS2. During the scene when Flynn talks with Ram in the prison cell, the picture goes nuts...

And yes, it happens with all PS2s...quite entertaining, although it was my excuse not to rely on PS2 for DVD playback...

uh, no... if your claim that Sonic is exclusive to Nintendo simply because they've gotten the most games lately well... you know what they say about assumptions

Gamecube got:
Sonic Adventure DX (a port of the DC game, no big deal)
Sonic Battle or something (basically SA 2 with more multiplayer)
Sonic Mega Collection: all old sonic games, once again i could play them on my Genesis, my computer or my DC

Sonic Heroes was recently released as a multiplatform game

Well, I haven't been following Sonic as of late so I just assumed that Nintendo was the owner. I didn't know Sonic Heroes was multiplatform.

Weird, because just a few weeks ago, I tried playing SD: Shut Your Mouth, and it had no sound, then, when I'd go to the character selection screen to pick a character, their names wouldn't be highlighted, and as the match would start all you could see were the wrestlers outline/shadows.

I knew it wasn't a problem with the game, because when I got it, it was in perfect condition and played just fine (and I take perfect care of my disc). I even tried exchanging the game for another copy (just to see) still had the same problem. I think it's safe to say that'll I be playing my xbox more than ps2. By the way, I got my ps2 back in October of last year (03) mainly for Castlevania:LOI.
