AWWWW YEAH!
Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates.

I think you do that when psn is comes back up. I'm so happy. My xbox friends have been giving me crap. And I really want to show them online because apparently when they played they always got kicked.
Well it says to download the patch and change your password in preparation for it coming back up. I know you can't access the account information area without being signed in, so it's kind of a catch 22 if you have to be signed in to change it, but can't sign in without having changed it.

No. here is to Clarify.
"We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password ONCE PLAYSTATION NETWORK IS RESTORED. The update (v3.61) is mandatory and is available now."
Ign reports that PSN is being brought up now through waves. USA and Canada should be expecting it soon.

Can you blame them for being pessimistic? I mean, Sony has made an absolute mess of the situation and took services down for 3 weeks+.
Honestly, I'm not caring until it's actually on, and even then I'm preparing myself for another outage. In my mind, PSN has finally been exposed for the piece of garbage it really is, and hopefully Sony will hire some people who actually know what they're doing to design, build, and implement the PS4s online system because this one cannot be saved with any amount of updates.
Glad that I can finally play some online matches in MK--any updates on the lag issues? I've heard there has been severe lag across both platforms.

i really confuses me as to why CA came up so early. When you think about it, the time difference gives California a good amount of time left of today to play. I think they should have continued the trend towards the west, and not just brought up CA out of the pattern. I have nothing against CA in general, it just irks me a little..
