My story:
Socom 1: Great game
Socom 2: Best online game ever made. I dont care who sais what, took way more skill to win than anything I play nowadays. I logged a number of hours I wont even post on ehre as I would get made fun of. THAT MANY.
then hacks hit the HDD, game over. Worst few months of my life. I went my last 2 years with only losing 1 or 2 clan wars tops per year. Literally no joke. We were hardcore. To this day, undefeated in 2v2
KoK (my clan) eventually hit rock bottom and half of us left. Then it was a solid group of 4 of us that did 4v4 wars. Not too big, not too small. Juuuuust right.
Then socom 3 came. Abandoned the series after a month, just wasnt the same. tried, but couldnt find a passion in it.
Confrontation was great for a while, but then the same COD mindset had set in. The hardcore aspect of it coming down to outwitting and skill shooting was gone. Just spammed bullshit.

I was at Pax. Talked to Mr. Ed Boon (the zipper equivilent to) i guess. And told him my story. He said "wow" and said hes sorry I left. I told him what oldschool fans wanted. And he pulled an Ed Boon, avoided asnwering directly and a bunch of "oh we are trying some new stuff". "we arent ready to talk about this feature at this time"
Not buying socom 4.
Praying for a S2 HD re-release on PSN. Other than that, Socom is dead to me.

Same thing happened to Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six. Nobody makes a good tactical shooter anymore with the exception of the guys that make ArmA.

Tactical Shooter lol, Just play Counter Strike, you'll never run out of people to play with. Realistic Tacticals are pretty much dead now, TF2 is as good as you'll get, or battlefield if you've got good people to play with.

Yes the classic settings of all the game modes are far better than respawn. Its more fun with one life each round.
