The official JoBlo.com San Diego Comic-Con coverage will begin shortly but I had to bring you this little tidbit and no doubt the biggest news to come out of the convention. STAR WARS, EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH. That's right, LucasFilm officially announced the title of EPISODE III and like George Lucas had said, fans had already guessed what it was. The SITH title has probably been the most long-rumored title and for that sheer fact alone, few thought it was actually true. There was plenty more news that came out of the LucasFilm STAR WARS panel, but you'll have to wait until JoBlo files his official report. For now, check out the article announcing the title on the official STAR WARS website and in true STAR WARS fashion, you can already order a t-shirt emblazoned with the logo. So what do you think of REVENGE OF THE SITH? Head over to the JoBlo.com message boards to talk with your fellow schmoes about the announcement... Thanks to everyone who wrote in sharing the news.
Heres what it saids on starwars.com starwars.com is pleased to announce that Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith is the full title of the next Star Wars film, scheduled for release on May 19, 2005. The Sith are masters of the dark side of the Force and the sworn enemies of the Jedi. They were all but exterminated by the Jedi a thousand years ago, but the evil order continued in secrecy. They operated quietly, behind the scenes, acting in pairs - a Master and an Apprentice - patiently biding their time before they could take over the galaxy. In Episode III, they'll finally exact their revenge on the Jedi. The title was publicly revealed today in a special presentation to a packed audience of Star Wars fans at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. "For some time now, the naming of a new Star Wars movie has taken on some special meaning among core fans, who love to take part in guessing games before a title is announced, and then engage in debate once it is," said Steve Sansweet, Director of Content Management and Head of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm. "Let the debates begin." The title wasn't the only surprise for those in attendance at the presentation. First Revenge of the Sith T-shirt At the end of the Star Wars Spectacular presentation, Steve Sansweet revealed he was wearing a special T-shirt bearing the Episode III title, with a style reminiscent of the 1982 Fan Club Revenge of the Jedi logo and shirts available for a limited time before the final Return of the Jedi title was revealed. "If you're interested in one, stop by the shop at the Star Wars pavilion, where they're going on sale just about now." If you're not at the show, don't worry... you can order your own retro Revenge of the Sith shirt now available exclusively here at StarWarsShop.com. About Episode III After three long years of relentless fighting, the Clone Wars are nearly at an end. The Jedi Council dispatches Obi-Wan Kenobi to bring General Grievous, the deadly leader of the Separatist droid army, to justice. Meanwhile, back on Coruscant, Chancellor Palpatine has grown in power. His sweeping political changes transform the war-weary Republic into the mighty Galactic Empire. To his closest ally, Anakin Skywalker, he reveals the true nature of power and the promised secrets of the Force in an attempt to lure him to the dark side.

Revenge of the Sith? thats the new name? well, at least its better than the shitty "Clone Wars" title they came up with.
I have no interest in this movie. I was looking forward to seeing the debut of Darth Vader in Ep.3 but Ep.1 and Ep.2 completly lost my interest. those two movies completly sucked.
besides, a couple of days after the movie comes out. everyone is going to know what happened in the movies anyways. regardless if you saw it or not.
the old school Star Wars Trilogy were the absolute best.

Lets see if any nerds are gonna wait a month again. I'll just read the spoilers the day it comes out.
Speaking as a nerd, I'm not going to wait in line. :p
I didn't wait in line for any of the previous movies and I'm sure not waiting in line for this one.
Though unlike the rest of you, I'm looking forward to it. ;)
Oh well, most people I know can't believe they're making a new Mortal Kombat game so there's no accounting for taste. ;)

I'm definitely looking forward to this. The fight between Obi Wan and Anakin and then the fight between Mace Windu and Darth Sidious are going to own.
This will be the best Star Wars movie ever! As long as they do it right.

The original title of Return of the Jedi was Revenge of the Jedi, so the title sort of fits... but either way it's not like any of the other titles really were that good.
I'll probably go see it late at night with my friend like we did with the other ones.

I can't wait for it. Something tells me this is going to be great!!!!!! I've seen parts of the final duel between Obi Wan and Anikin. It looks great. Also I've read many spoilers at theforce.net and pretty much the plotline of the story. Overall this is sounding like the best star wars movie.

Yea man I agree with you 100%
But Lucas has to get his act together and his looks to be better than his last 2 films.
But Tgrant, Windu fights Sidious in a saber battle? Holy shit that should be sick
But you guys all left out the Obi Wan vs General Grievous fight...rumors say his robotic arms split in half allowing him to wield 4 sabers.
Obi Wan is definitly has his hand full this time around and seems to be the main hero in this movie
Wanderer Wrote: It better have Vader. That's the entire mainstay of Star Wars, and without even a cameo by Vader I know it will suck hard. EDIT: *just saw Vader* That one image alone makes the movie awesome. |
James Earl Jones is coming back to do some voice work, apparently.

Agreed, but Ep. 1 and Ep. 2 weren't as good as the original trilogy. If Ep. 3 has some better acting, better scripts, and kickass saber fights, I'm set. I'll wait to go see it in the Dollar Movie anyways. Yes, I'm cheap.

I've completely lost faith in George Lucas after the last two prequels. I dunno if I can even buy Hayden Christensen's Anakin as Vader. Vader was ambitious and corrupted by a lust for power. The prequels show Anakin as a whiny SOB who just wants to be some sort of unrealistic hero. He can never pull off being Vader even by a long shot, he was cast for being a pretty boy and thats all he'll ever represent. Congratulations Lucas, you killed the mainstay of a godly franchise.
In the end, I'll keep to the original trilogy and these movies will not exist for me in any way.

Sounds like Luke...
Like father, like son.
Besides, with the exception of Harrison Ford and few others, most of the actors in the original Trilogy act just as horribly as the new Trilogy. The actors were cast for the same reasons - they fit the typecast...

Maul looked more evil and fit the prequel pretty well imo
Lucas could've used the next 2 episodes to explain the his story a little more
It would have been better to see Qui Gon fight Dooku...foreshadowing the fight between Obi Wan and Anakin.
But Lucas obviously didnt think it through

Can't wait for it. I don't care what the bashers say about it. I love the Star Wars universe, and I've been happy with the past two movies so far.

Yea I thought Ep 1 was pretty decent, but Ep 2 was terrible mainly because of the horrible acting
