Grabbed this the day it came out..... and WOW..... I'm impressed. What a steal getting SF3-Third Strike and HSF2 all for 30 bucks. You SF fans need to fork out the cashflow for this one.
Well, off to master the art of parrying now.

me too... DEFINATLY after I get deception... (if I started playing now I'd screw myself for deception thinking holding backwords will automaticly block for me)
also apparently from what I've heard Capcom remixed the music for all the SF2 stages again???
I consider this a VERY worthwhile Package though lets see what we get:
1: The ability to select any of the versions of each character in HSF2
2: Being able to select any of the versions of Music in HSF2 (CPS1, CPS2 and I'm positive theres Remixed music???)
3: the Street Fighter Animated Movie!
4: VERY smooth animation in SF3
thats all I can think of now seeing as I have never played SF3 so...

I'm still playing SFIII: Third Strike, but here is my review of Hyper SFII.
Picking a mode of play reminded me of choosing your "ISM" in SFA3. Cammy, T. Hawk, Fei Long, and Dee Jay, of course, were limited to Super and SuperT modes, and Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison could not be picked in Normal modes. Super Mode, however, is a bit different from Super SFII. Each character had only two color schemes; their default scheme from SSFII, and hitting start would change their scheme to one very similar to their default, but with altered hues of the default scheme, and sometimes, there were obvious color differences. For example, Ryu's alt scheme had like an orange headband, and E. Honda's alt scheme had blue face paint instead of red. The SSFII color schemes would not be accessed unless you were in SuperT mode.
Nice thing about it was, each character could choose their own mode, so you could have a Normal Ryu against a SuperT Ken. And in each mode, you actually got to witness the changes in normal moves that each character underwent from one SFII game to the next, such as the changes in normal moves in SFII Champion Edition, the new specials of SFII Turbo, the totally re-worked normals, specials, and vocal effects of Super SFII, and the Super Combos of Super SFII Turbo. Even cooler is that you could now tell by what's in the area where the super meter should be what version your character is. Just a roman numeral II means Normal (SFII), II' in one color means Champ, II' in another color means Turbo, Super with the II centered on the word is Super mode, and finally, the actual super meter is SuperT. I even like how they use SFII, Champ Edition, and Turbo character portraits for Normal, Champ, and Turbo mode characters. The fonts are all Super SFII style, and when you play arcade mode, all your opponents are SuperT mode characters. Even the old cheat to advance in Arcade Mode works, where you hit start on the other controller, kick the ass of the character you're about to fight in 1-player mode, and then you advance. If you do this all the way until you reach Bison, you still get to fight Akuma, but lose to him and you'll fight Bison. The SFII animated movie is cool. I rented that one twice before, and it just brings back memories.

Does anyone know how to get Akuma on Hyper SF II?

Start on ryu then go t-hawk, then guile, then cammy, then back to ryu and hit the start button followed by all three punch buttons. Oh yeah, almost forgot, you have to keep the cursor on the characters for one second before you move it to the next.

Dude, you must not be an SF fan. How is this not worth 30 greens? And it doesn't even compare to the genesis versions. Besides......SF3. Need I say more?

If I could interject. Its really quite simply the value of the old games is not very high.
Ex. Its like finding the NES Mario game for .01-$1.00, but buying it in a compilation for lets say $20 bucks. The value of the other games included BETTER be close to $20 of financially its a rip off
I do not know the current value of the games, but I'm positive they aren't high enough to equal $30.
Therefore they jack up the price to $30 because its a compilation, and rip you off significally.
This is why I said wait till price drops or offer trade-ins

Except an inferior port (parry lag, unblockables gone, only the remixed soundtrack...just to name a few) on the Dreamcast can run from $15 to $40, even on ebay. And that's just that game.

im gonna get it when it comes out on xbox. i dont even need 3rd strike or the movie tho, i just want the hyper part. i wish i could just get it for like 20 or less. i'll probably never even play 3rd strike since i prefer the dreamcast controller anyways. (too bad the dreamcast couldnt get this hyper street fighter
)

LoganMK Wrote: in terms of value in my opinion the game is certainly not worth 30 bucks. I'd wait until it goes down in price or at LEAST throw in some trade ins to drop the price. Thats what I did with Megaman AC anyway. |
I should have done that...
I bought Mega Man on my military base, so I didn't have to pay any taxes on it, so I only had to pay 19 for it, and it wasn't worth that...
and Street Fighter... I bought it, popped it into my PS2, and realised when I started playing it, that I never really liked Street Fighter anyways...
The only decent characters from the SF series are either all in Alpha (WHY DIDN'T THEY ADD ALPHA TO THE MIX?!? I'd take Alpha over that craptacular movie they added), Zangief, Charlie, Guile, Akuma, and Bison. Other than that, they all suck.
I'm glad a friend is willing to pay full price for my game, since I've only played it twice.

I got mine for PS2 and I'm still getting the XBOX version when it comes out...
I don't remember any "parry lag" in any of the DC versions (New Generation-3rd Strike). I used to practice parries quite a bit on the DC, and the timing felt the same in the arcade. If there was any differenc, it was so miniscule that it didn't affect my gameplay for either version.

No, I knew what you meant as soon as I read it.
"You're clastraphobic"
BTW I'm gonna get it as soon as I get money....Don't know when that'll be though.
