The 'White People Dancing' skit.

It's totally ridiculous. The scene with the guitar in that barbershop, is an insult to the history of rock n' roll and the electric guitar. Rock n' roll was pioneered by African-Americans, and some of the best guitar players have been black. Infact, the best of all time, Jimi Hendrix.

I am sick and fucking tired of Rock n' roll being labeled as 'white peoples music', and hip hop as 'black and latino'. That is ludicrous. I have known white people who prefer rap, and do not like rock. I have known blacks and latinos who love rock.

Does anyone else notice this crap?

LOL! That was a funny skit man! However, to go back further, Chuck Berry and Little Richard were the original pioneers of rock.wink

Precisely. Rock was a fusion of blues and other elements.

Also, in my opinion, part of why rock has gone downhill the last few years, is because it has lost a lot of the soul. All of the blues element seems to be gone.

Rock turned away from it's roots during the 70's, but it grew into something else that was good as well. I feel that bands remember the 60's and 70's rock, but don't know about it's origins. Funny how The Rolling Stones as ancient as they are can remember where rock came from, but the bands that were influenced by them know nothing about Chuck Berry and Little Richard.

I don't think it turned into something else good. I think Rock in the 80's, 90's, and definitely now, blows.

There have been a few good songs here and there, not really any good bands

It just isn't any good without the blues influence, IMO.

Thanks for the history lesson.

Clearly not needed on a comedy show that that pokes fun at damn near every sterotype there is.

Find your sense of humor.

He has said on the show many times, 'Yes shit is offensive but don't take it to heart, it's all to poke fun at each other.'.

Don't take it to heart Tinman, how do you think Alpha feels when they showed that guy playin the Mexican music on the keyboard??

The show is about comedy, not history, have a coke and a smile wink

I was hurt. How dare Dave Chapelle insult us mexicans like that, its not MEXICAN people that like MEXICAN music.

Seriously, calm down Tin(goddamn, how many times have I said that) it was just a comedy skit, it wasnt meant to be offensive, like masta said, just find your sense of humor, if you even have one. And another thing, why would stereotypes even exist, I think that most stereotypes are somewhat true, as bad as it sounds.

I don't think that(bout stereotypes). I listen to Mexican music, I love Banda and Tejano. And there is no need for that jab you took at me 'if you even have one', wtf? If you knew me you'd know I do have a sense of humor.

Listen, it seems like you don't have a sense of humor. Most, if not all the people around you that have posted told you to lighten up. Maybe we don't have the problem.

Go fight to guitar music.

Ok, fuck this.

I'm not coming in this fucking thread anymore, I am done with it.

I didn't start the topic for motherfuckers to tell me I do not have a sense of humour. It seems that noone is willing to have a discussion over what I intended. And that is the stupidity of people putting racial categories on music, and about rock forsaking it's roots.

So if you guys want to continue your bitching over my sense of humour, go ahead. I won't stick around in this thread and listen to it though.

This from the person who almost turned the countdown thread into a political war.

Seriously, lighten up. It's Dave freaking Chappelle, no one takes him seriously, he makes fun of stereotypes, not creates them.

I agree with most of the people on this board. I was laughing my arse off at the electric guitar, drums, and (I am so sorry Alpha) especially the electric piano, that was classic (loved the part where Dave started screaming gibberish into the bullhorn grin).
