The last session of my game was a bit emotional for me and my players, for out of game reasons.

Allow me to explain. One of my players had to go through the unfortunate and sad process of putting her old dog down last week. I used to love hanging out at her house because her dog was addicted to fetch and he'd make me throw him a ball for at least an hour every time I visited. So, a few days before this last session, one of the other players came to me with an idea. She suggested that at some point in the near future, the party would find a stray dog, and rise to the task of protecting it. I had foreshadowed in a dream sequence that this player was going to find materials that would allow her to craft a new gun, and the crate with these materials was located inside the goblin stronghold that they're currently raiding. We're playing Pathfinder, and in that setting (Golarion), goblins absolutely despise dogs. I decided to have this stray dog escape death at the hands of the goblins, and crawl into the crate with the materials meant for the gunslinger.

I found a picture of my friend's dog, and made it into a token for our game on Roll20. As they were approaching a trapped rope bridge, they spotted the crate next to one of the bridge supports. It took a lot for me to keep it together as I was describing what they found, even more so when I revealed the dog token to all of them. I could tell that my players were happy, and at the end of the session we all shared a moment to memorialize the dog as I put the full picture of him up as our end graphic for our stream. Here he is in all of his glory. I'm gonna miss you, Marcus.

We had our first player death in my campaign last night.

My players had just finished defeating the boss of the first arc of our campaign in the previous session, but even with a couple members injured and little resources left at their disposal, they decided to keep exploring the dungeon to see if they could gain more loot. Erzalin Faero, the 4th level half-elf gunslinger from Riddleport, took point and uncovered some of the dungeon's better kept secrets. She found a pillar made of coins, that when activated descends into the floor and reveals a hidden path. On this path, she found three rooms: one with a ghost speaking to an invisible audience on a loop, one full of surgical tools and similar equipment, and a room containing a greater barghest that had been bound to that chamber. Not wanting to take that fight, she slammed the door and led the party to another set of double doors. After charging in on her own, she was ambushed by some shadows. She tried to retreat, but one of the shadows landed a couple of solid hits on her and cut her down.

Fortunately for them, they had recruited the aid of a local NPC, and she came very prepared for this dungeon. She took a potion of lesser restoration and force fed it to Erzalin, with the help of two other PCs, Kaede Sandpoint (4th level dhampir mesmerist) and Diino Sorinson (4th level human druid). Meanwhile, Erzalin's spirit floated aimlessly in a void, when a voice asked what she would do with a second chance. Replying that she would live for her friends once her own revenge against the man who murdered her uncle was secured, the voice warned her that denying Pharasma a soul is a very rare occurrence. The potion took effect, giving Erzalin a single point of strength back, and she returned to life.

After that ordeal, they all left the dungeon and went back to town to rest. Erzalin now has a phobia of doors lol

My game died :/ a few people joined had potential future scheduling issues, and when we to that point, rescheduling wound up not working out, and I had gotten tired of inviting/recruiting new people.

It was pretty fun though. I might set up another game in the future, or try playing on the other side of the DM screen.
