Bare with me here please, because I am sure I am about to piss off a lot of you. I hate tattoos, people view it as permanently putting ink on your body, I view it as a way to detect idiots. People want to say time and time again that they are doing it for "themselves" when its something on the OUTSIDE of your body. You are obviously putting it on yourself for others to see. Surely you dont have a mirror constantly floating around you at all times. People also say that it makes them unique when in reality its become so normal that you are doing the exact opposite. It just makes me mad that on facebook, instagram, television, etc. that everyone views this as "cool". Im sorry for the rant but I don't want to have to explain to my future children why all their friends parents have a bunch of stupid tattoos. I am posting here wondering if anyone feels the way I do.

I as a person with no tattoos, don't care either way. At the end of the day, we all have our own lives to live, and our own decisions to make. As long as they're not holding you down, jamming a tattoo gun into your forehead, there's nothing wrong with it.

I meant to state that in my original post. Dont get me wrong, I understand that I have no right to tell people how to live. I just genuinely want to know if anyone feels the same way

I lol.
I dislike them as well, however for me to make any sort of judgement the tattoo must be insanely stupid. I personally dislike them, but a cross on the arm or a rose on the leg is somewhat understandable. Neck tattoos and "System of a Down" across your chest is not.
Same with piercings.
Earings- fine (I even find the ones at the top of the ear sexy)
Nose rings- I hate, hate, hate them....but they can be easily undone.
I really find all piercings besides those two absolutely stupid. Belly rings at first thought seem a little sexy, then my mind immediately goes to them getting ripped out in some horrifying accident.

Alright guys, we cant all act like we aren't judgmental sometimes just because we are behind a computer screen. I would rather be myself than act fake and say what everyone else wants to hear. I appreciate those of you that actually gave me your opinion rather than a quick one liner such as " I stopped reading there. " It kind of does affect me on a daily basis because I see it all over and social networking makes it more annoying. ( and no im not going to delete my social networking accounts, sue me) But in all seriousness, in my experience it is usually the dumber attention seeking people wanting to "decorate" their body. EDIT: and coltess thats funny that you mention the belly button ring thing, I completely agree. Sort of sexy sometimes oddly but the thought of ripping it out makes me cringe.

1- I call bullshit that it actually affects your way of life on a daily basis. If you really dislike it that much, it should be a self-esteem boost to you for staying away from it then.
2- If it's on social media, it can be avoided by simply not looking.
3- Who are you to condemn people for wanting to ink themselves? It's their life, let them do what they want without your judging.

I don't have any tattoos, I can't think of any that would suit me personally and I probably wouldn't be able to pick one I'd like on my body for the rest of my life.
However, I'd rather hang out with someone with Tattoos, that with a judgemental cunt.

It's simple to wear belly button rings, you avoid wearing the dangly ones.

No offense, but it's stupid to call people "idiots" for getting a tattoo, as well as making this so personal that it really affects you. I mean, if you're next to a guy with a tattoo, are you going to go insane? Insult them? Have your entire day ruined because someone sat next to you with a tattoo on them?
And how is it "in your experience" that people who get tattoos are dumb attention seeking idiots? That makes no fucking sense. I know a lot of people who've gotten tattoos that represent something to them, and I would like to get one eventually too. So if someone lost someone close to them and have their names tattooed somewhere on their body, they're dumb, and they're trying to gain attention? That is really rude.
Is this whole rant is based on you getting a tattoo that won't come off?

Isn't that a tad bit closed-minded?
I mean War is pretty terrible but since it doesn't affect me personally I guess that makes it okay?
Poverty is pretty bad too, but since I'm not homeless I guess it's not really a problem?

To kunglaodoesntsuck- I salute you, and No, it doesnt conume my thoughts and I don't think about it constantly. It also doesn't mean I will refuse to be friends with someone who has one because some of my friends have some. Its also not really a matter of "not looking", people make random statuses all the time saying some dumb shit like " I wanna get inkkkeeeddd uppp" Big deal, I called them idiots. I am such a judgmental cunt and a terrible person LOL EDIT: To icebaby, I'm being realistic. I am not in my later adult years and have been isolated from a lot of the world yet. I am one year out of high school and in college. In high school I knew plenty of people and lets be real, after four years there you kind of learn who is a dumb ass and who isnt. It doesnt mean I refused to talk to anyone with tattoos. That would be plain ignorant. I thought I could just have somewhere to vent to see if people view it the same way as I do

Don't get the wrong idea now. All I'm saying is people should be allowed to have an opinion on something without having a personal stake in it.

Yes, don't worry I can analyze it myself. You made a good point about poverty and war, hence my "saluting". Some people here aren't talking about their own views on tattoos, theyre completely missing the point and just focusing on the fact that I said "idiots". Big fucking deal. Everyone has stuff that annoys them, Im not going to pretend I am perfect. Which is more than I can say about a lot of people here

The reason why people here aren't even talking about their view and just targeting on you calling people idiots is because you insulted people instead of voicing an opinion. There's having an opinion and then there's just insulting something, which you clearly did.
And we're not talking about war or poverty, we're talking about tattoos... something that really isn't that big of a deal to care about to a personal degree, which is why I made my first post an actual post. Why care about something that isn't even that big of a deal to care?

Alright. Doesn't invalidate the Poverty example. And substitute War for Global Warming. Doesn't make a difference because the point still stands.

Poverty also affects taxpayers. Who do you think subsidizes the programs that help poor people? That's right, you.
Global warming is a phenomenon that affects all of us. Climate change is a serious issue that needs to be addressed, and if you think it doesn't affect you then you need to do some research on the subject.
