Whats up guys, just thought i'd share my opinion and also start a conversation about the differences between the communities of MKO and Capcom Unity. I'm going to be honest I love the MKO a lot more than the Capcom Unity. I think it's because for starters over on Unity there are a lot of negative things going on in their forums especially in the Street Fighter section. Since the whole Street Fighter X Tekken on disc DLC scenario, people have been doubting Capcom and really have nothing good to say about them.

The thing is that Street Fighter x Tekken still has a lot of things wrong with it and it can be frustrating online. Unfortunately...... I'm part of the frustrated bunch, I liked playing the game but after all the shenanigans that happened to me I just don't even bother playing it anymore, haven't played it in two weeks.... I'd rather play SSFIV: AE than that piece of trash. The thing that bothers me about Unity is that there are a lot of "Know it alls" there and people talk trash about Capcom's games but they still play it and then whine even more. I get tired of all the bitching and moaning, I signed up there to interact with all the fans there, turns out it was a big dissapointment and all I saw were angry fanboys instead of fun people to talk too. Being at EVO this year was fun because the people there were actually.... nice for a change.

Which brings me here to MKO, I freakin love this site you guys are all nice and sure we've had our differences here and there but it didn't last for like years compared to Unity. I remember the whole Kratos/Kruegur charade but we all got over it eventually. I just want to say how much I appreciate this site and the people here. You guys make this a fun place to chat for a bit and the MK community is not nearly as bad as the Capcom community.smile

Oh, that's OK. I didn't even know such a site existed. Test Your Might is the supreme MK site nowadays however, there's not much dispute about that... To each their own. You're a Deadman to me! (Just joking; you're cool.)

TBH I really don't like Test Your Might either. But that's just me.

People often tell that they don't like Test Your Might because it puts so much weight on gameplay and the tournaments but it seems that it almost outweighs MKO even in story discussion these days as well. [/observation]
But you're not alone, Inky, I'm on MKO too!

To the Capcom side's credit, I think you're ultimately comparing apples and oranges in terms of the topical hang-ups the two communities might have.

Kratos and Freddy Krueger, for better or worse, are short term blips the community (probably) won't have to deal with in future games. They also represent unwanted additions to a fan, rather than perceived subtraction to a consumer (paid for, on-disc DLC). So, while it's great to say nice things about the "MKOmmunity," that might not be the most fair measure. I think if NRS & WB pulled the same stunt, we'd be just as vocal. As DLC becomes a bigger part of the release strategy, it remains to be seen if we'll have similar issues.

Like most sites and communities, I think Capcom-Unity has good and bad. I have a real affection for Street Fighter and I think the Capcom-Unity staff do a great job of servicing the fans as an involved, ground-level official source. We don't have that direct line, but I think we do a comparable job.

If it makes anyone feel better, we're still a much larger global traffic magnet than TYM, who obviously have a very vocal base, particularly from the tournament scene. Capcom-Unity are top 60k, we're 130k, TYM are 371k (current global rankings). I think you could fairly say we lack the communal, energetic presence of some of those other sites, though. It would be nice to have a bit of that.

Never heard of this Test Your Might, but my biased thoughts are saying it sucks.

Curse you, biased thoughts.

I'm gonna check out both TYM and CU.

Test Your Sight is worth a shot certainly, and obviously the activity of users will eventually show up in every category moreorless. You can probably find more people interested in the plot and fanart from MKO than from Test Your Might – currently – except a lot of them aren't doing anything here.

Deadman....play some MK why don't you? I'm rarely online. If you see me, it may just be my sister playing Mortal Kombat, The Sims or watching Netflix.

TYM is a good site, in my opinion. I've never seen people pick apart the MK characters and mechanics the way those guys do it. I would kill to have that here.

Though I have an account on TYM as well (I feel like a traitor!!), I will always have MKO as my primary home on the internet. This is the first forum I've ever signed up for, after a year or so of lurking GameFAQs. The MKOmmunity keeps me here, even if we lack a little in the activity department. Not all of the MKOmmunity are so accepting of Bronies, but they tolerate our presence, which is always nice!

The most recognizable attribute I have on TYM, is being the guy who cares the most about Kratos' existence as a fighter in MK9.
