I'm one of the only ones who actually likes Mario better. Funny how Luigi's always seen as the less popular one. Dark Moon looks awesome though.

So with my new 3DS, what Mario games do you guys recommend I buy? I want to get SM64 (DS) for the original DS and 3D Land, but I'm insure on others. I'll probably get Dark Moon, though.

3D Land and Lost Levels on the Virtual Console

Definitely definitely definitely get Super Mario 3D Land. Personally I think it's one of the more unique Mario games released in recent times, not in terms of art style, but in terms of level layout and game play. I was even mildly entertained with the story (don't hold your breath though, it's still just a Mario story).

If you have ever played a New Super Mario Bros game, I'd pass on NSMB 2. It's really just a rehash of the Wii version with new levels, minus Yoshi, four-player co-op, and a number of power-ups. The whole collect the gold coins gimmick doesn't really do much for me. Collect a million coins and you don't really get anything; it just acknowledges that you have a lot of god damn coins.

I think Mario Kart 7 might be the best Mario Kart game since Mario Kart 64; maybe even better than Double Dash. If you're a fan of the Kart franchise, you should definitely pick it up. If you've never played a Mario Kart game, this might be a good one to start with.

I've never gotten through a Mario RPG game, but from what I've played from Paper Mario Sticker Star, it doesn't seem like the strongest entry in the series. I'm no expert though, so I can't really give a good suggestion on this one.

I can definitely say that Mario and Luigi: Dream Team looks sweet. It's neat that there's 3D character models that are based on the 2D sprites of the previous games. It's nice to see a fresh 3D Mario and Luigi rather than the same recycled Galaxy models; changing the art style is something I think they should do for all games. It's also pretty funny/weird that it takes place in Luigi's dream, where everything is Luigi themed, and Luigi's basically an all-powerful god. I'd say keep an eye out for this one; it looks good.

And of course, we've got Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. I can say that the first games is one of the most underrated games I've ever played. It's a very dramatic step away from a traditional Mario game; very eerie and actually a bit scary. If Dark Moon follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, then I can tell you it'll be good.

-I can't decide between Mario 3 and Mario World on which one is my favorite side scroller.

-I used to rent Super Mario RPG and play it til sunrise, I miss those days.

-Mario Kart 64 is still the best in the franchise.

-Mario Party 2 is my favorite although I've only played up to 6.

-The Bowser level themes in Mario 64 are my favorite themes out of any game

-I HATE the American version of Mario 2, its just a game that had characters from the franchise in it.

-Lost Levels is INSANELY DIFFICULT.

-Mario is my worst character in Smash Bros Brawl.

-I haven't played Mario Galaxy 1 or 2.

I can't beat Super Mario Bros. Luigi's Mansion was the shit, can't wait for the new 3DS game.

If you're going to get them, get Galaxy 2. They're both pretty similar, but the second is better.

The Lost Levels is by far my favorite Mario side-scroller. The franchise is incredible.

I'd assume you haven't played the most recent ones? Paper Mario 64, and Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door are the two best games in the series. Unfortunately, the last few titles have stripped the RPG elements from the game.

The 3DS reincarnation tries to cling to some RPG gameplay, but is very basic, and falls flat.

Today, "NEW Super Mario Bros. 3" was announced as a game for the 3DS and Wii U.
Again, the main goal in this Mario gamee will be Star collecting. A new world was added based on other Nintendo franchises for it's levels, and the new power-up for F.L.U.D.D will be used to help progress in levels.

Super Mario 64 was the first Mario I ever played, and I bought it with the money I got from my first Communion party... I was a Genesis baby, that's why.

News involving N!SMB3 today stated that Waluigi will play the role of the boss in the new world. Finally, we get something on him.

So I assume Wario now has a role in this game. (Later) We are all aware this isn't true, right?

Well, I figured I'd bump this just because, and because I had nerded out on my Spring Break.

There won't be another NSMB game for a while. If ever.

I certainly hope not! That (what Legoslayer said) was just an April 1st joke, but if they actually did something like that then at least the game wouldn't be sooo predictable and generic.

However, WalMart now has pre-orders available for a new 3D Mario game for Wii U, as well as Zelda and a few others. Hopefully we'll catch a glimpse of the next big Mario game soon, before E3. And if it's Galaxy 3 I will kill someone.

Anyone else taken advantage of this offer? I got lucky because I just happened to have registered my 3DS XL right before the offer came up. If I had registered it 4 months ago when I got it I wouldn't have qualified.

I bought a game recently called Boom Street (in UK and AUS) or Fortune Street (in US and EU). It's SO DAMN ADDICTIVE!!! It's like a cross between Mario Party and Monopoly. Anyone else know what i'm talking about?
