I think gen 1 jsut has great nostalgia for people. Its not a bad thing it jsut leads to predictability. I know some of them do for me, for example I have a real soft spot for some of the Gen 1's despite them being useless battlewise (in or out of the game) and ahving some favourites for other gens.

Even in the MK boot and immune games that used to go on, it was generally MK1 and MK2 that dominated with the odd surprise here and there.

I LOVE Pidgey and Pidgeot (my favourite bird line and Pidgeot is my favourite bird) but I always hated Pidgeotto. I always kept/keep my Pidgey until level 35 then evolve it and evolve it again straight away for Pidgeot.

You're definitely right about the MK B/Is, exceptions being people like Kenshi, I'd imagine (really don't feel like looking back). Those were always more fun to me than the standard voting tournaments if only because at least on paper, someone other than Sub-Zero should win.

My rationale is that I'd vote for the Gen 3 and later Pokemon if I liked them more. I do have a few favorites among the 3s and 4s (Latias, Latios, Glalie, Luxray, Lucario, Floatzel, and any of the new evolutions to the Gen 1/2s) but by and large I don't find the newer Pokemon to be as interesting, much less inspired or creative, as their older counterparts. I feel like recently the series has shown its age in the form of what they've come up with for new Pokemon. An ice cream cone? A chandelier? Please. At least for me, it's more than nostalgia, even though I did start to lose interest in Pokemon starting with Gen 3.

The Pidgey line has always been my favorite bird line too, and while battling with Pidgeotto was always sort of frustrating, I've always loved its appearance and it usually looked pretty boss in the anime, since for the better part of the Kanto league it was Ash's go-to after Pikachu.

Yeah of post MK2-eara, Quan Chi and Kenshi used to do well, Nitara and Ermac made the grand-finals a couple of times too. Sareena also did well and made it to some finals too. Sub and Scrop used to get anti-voted also.


In general, I kind of like most of the concepts for the different lines, but feel the design is more lazy than the actaul concept (eg I like the idea of the dove/pheasant pokemon but feel Pidove/Tranquill/Unfeazant are quite boring, and the toads are a good idea too but Palpitoad and Seismitoad are just hideous. While the electric bugs are awesomesauce IMO, as are the Deer - Stantler, Deerling and Sawsbuck. I also quite like the ice-cream cones lol. The Spheal line is also one of my favourites too.



ive jsut generally never felt the love for Pidgeotto. Maybe is somewhat a psychological thing that I have to wait 36 levels to get my beloved Pidgeot. I also get the feeling Pidgeot (and Pidgey to a lesser extent) wont go that far in their respective rounds if Pidgeotto wins here (which seems likely)....thats if they had a chance in their rounds anyway,

I never really had much love for anything post-gen2 until i bought colosseum. Metagross & Absol are definitely great 'mon, even the ones you never got to catch like Sableye and the Ralts family appeal to me, because they are tough yet elegant SOBs. It turned me around on a lot of the newer ones, but still from a design standpoint alone, i hate like half of gen 5.

I love both, it murders me to pick one since I tried immuning both during the game.
But... I have to go with Wartortle. Squirtle and its evolutions is my permanent Pokémon path.

Pidgeotto

Gotta love that Hoothoot.

My favorite happens to be the Wingull/Pelliper line. Ever since I came across Lugia, I've grown very fond of pokemon that can both Fly and Surf. Plus, Pelliper has one hell of a defense, especially with Stockpile, and my battling techniques deal mostly with defense.

Anyhoo, I vote Wartortle.

I completely forgot about Absol. I love that thing, and within its tier, it's an absolute monster in battle.

I don't really use flying or normal Pokemon, so I dislike most of those bird lines that you can get early in the game. I was especially disappointed by Staraptor or whatever, because I was super excited that we were getting a dark/ flying Pokemon early in the game and then I caught it and found out I was wrong.
