Since it's the holiday season and there's a lot of people that need help to get through it for what ever reason, I was wondering if anyone is planning to do something for the less fortunate either tonight or during Christmas day? Things such as serving food at a shelter, passing out blankets to the homeless or driving them to a shelter, contributing to a charity, or anything else along these lines.

This year I really haven't done anything charitable, just the usual being nice and polite to everyone I meet and so on.
I suppose tho, you could count yesterday. After the company Christmas party, I grabbed one of our employees, who is borderline suicidal. I just talked to him for a while and told him how much I appreciate all he has done for me and the company this year, etc etc. Probably didn't mean too much to him, but I hope it did.

Every Christmas, me and my family buy a lot of Christmas food and we put them in baskets and then we give them to the doorman, the cleaning lady and the orphan children

I work at a casino, we had an elite card member cater a BUNCH of food and I MEAN A BUNCH only to have upper management say if any employee touch such food you will be fired on the spot (they said it would be a conflict of interest or customer favoritism).
We were told to throw the food out instead the employees that were tasked with this we went to a local park that is known to be a homeless gathering place we gave them all the food, atleast in the end someone got to eat the food or maybe they sold the food for crack who knows atleast it didn't go to waste.

I worked my Church's Christmas food boxes. A lady came in for her box and I helped her out to her car. She had like a 4-6 year old boy with her and said she was pregnant. She gave me a hug and said with the food she'd be able to keep her and her son fed and use what little she had saved to buy her son a toy for Christmas.
Some people came in for boxes in nice cars. Some called in and never showed up. That woman, though. If I'd've had any money, I would have tossed it in the box. It really got to me.

Since I acquired the One this Holiday season, I sold off my 360 and a good chunk of games and gave the money to the parents charity of choice in memory of their 16 year old son who was a part of our neighborhood, killed by a drunk driver two months ago.

I'm usually the one in the position of 'needy' rather than 'giving'. I've used food banks in the past when benefits got cut unexpectedly and i've needed friends to put me up every time i was homeless. Let me tell you all something. No matter what you do, even the smallest acts of kindness don't go unnoticed.
As it is in my new place i'm paying so much rent it's impossible to give anything like money or food, but i do have time and i'm finally in a stable enough position to apply to joining the Samaritans. A very worthwhile cause i've known about for many years but not been able to pursue until now.
Also, just as a side note i'd like to add that, yes, while there are those that abuse charity and take take take from good causes to support their drinking, smoking, gambling or other unnecessary habits, there will always be someone abusing a system. Don't let that put you off helping altogether, because the majority of people don't know about what help is available until they are there getting it and this majority really does need and appreciate the help. I've seen it a few times in the food banks.
