its been 3 years since 9/11 occured. I just wanted to get peoples feelings about that tragedy and what i meant to you. Because a lot of times it seems like people take what they have for granted. You never realize what you have until its gone.

We really need to stop dwelling on it. All it really does is open the scars and it shows the world how much it hurt us...not a good idea.

(Just my lame opinion, but oh well)

Everybody everywhere takes what they gave for granted or else it wouldn't be worth having. I had a general disinterest in September 11 the day after it happened. People put emphasis on the wrong things and overexert their stances. In other words I want to hear about it like I hear about Pearl Harbor, only in history class.

My opinion, there's a difference between having memory about a tragic event and replaying the experience.

Its healthy to remember the event, because it gives respect to those who suffered, it shows support to one's own country's history, and it allows one not to be a jackass by saying "I don't give a rip"

However,

Replaying the experience is mentally unhealthy because as someone has already said it keeps emotional wounds open. Its no different than someone who can't move on emotionally from a sexual abuse situation. They replay the experience, and can have difficulty moving on from it.

Finding the easiest way to get closure from a tragic event and then make the choice not to replay the experience in one's mind while still acknowledging the event actually happend would be the ideal thing to do
