In no particular order because I don't HAVE an all time favorite game:
1.) Perfect Dark
2.) Dishonored
3.) World of Warcraft
4.) Turok: Dinosaur Hunter
5.) Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey
6.) Timesplitters Future Perfect
7.) Borderlands 2
8.) Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness
9.) Banjo Tooie
10.) Mortal Kombat 2
1.) Perfect Dark
2.) Dishonored
3.) World of Warcraft
4.) Turok: Dinosaur Hunter
5.) Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey
6.) Timesplitters Future Perfect
7.) Borderlands 2
8.) Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness
9.) Banjo Tooie
10.) Mortal Kombat 2
As in best overall put together game, most innovating etc. and not by populism? Also, I only list games I have played and finished.
1. Doom: the grand overall king of gaming. Whatever you play probably has Doom code in it, two decades past its release. Half-life 2? has Doom code. And so does Portal. Call of Duty? Doom code. John Carmack literally wrote THE book on how tomake games.
2. Planescape Torment: the only video game that is story drivento the point of art. An RPG, where you can fight angels, demons, extra-planar creatures, and can WIN THE GAME WITHOUT FIGHTING.
3. Super mario. The original still entertains me to no end.
4. Monkey Island: adventure game humour masterpiece.
5. Sid Meyer's Civilization / Alpha Centauri: THE strategy/management/grand construction game.
6. System Shock: perfect sci-fi rpg in the cyberpunk era. Complex, detailed and subverts so many cliches that it is still regarded scarier than bioshock.
7. Half-life. Storytelling genius, sci-fi horror survival codifier. Oh, and the sequel is the poster boy for physics engines. Switch it with Portal 1 if you want to. Or Counterstrike.
8. Supreme Commander: the only RTS game that has amtching scale. As in a nuke really takes out miles wide armiesin one. A tank is really tiny compared to a carrier and alot of other things. Starcraft uis merely rock&paper&scissors compared to this.
9. Street Fighter obviously.
10. WoW: face it, nothing comes close to compare to this juggernaut.

I started out and almost immediately got to 20 and had to pare it down, so here's my list:
Honorable Mentions:
- Killer Instinct (Xbox One) - Yes, it's that good.
- Panzer Dragoon Zweii 2 (Saturn) - Amazing on-rails shooter.
- Halo (Xbox) - The ultimate buddy split screen game.
- Mega Man 3 (NES) - A childhood classic.
- Gargoyles Quest (Game Boy) - Amazing game on an amazing little system.
My Top 10:
10. Lost Odyssey (Xbox 360) - The graphics, the story, the beautiful memory vignettes, all wrapped up in a great, turn-based JRPG system. One of Sakaguchi's best and most criminally underrated games. My favorite XBox 360 game.
9. Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis) - I can still hear the sound effects from this game. There was nothing like going over to a friends house as a kid and just playing the crap out of this game on the old Sega Channel. Pure fun.
8. Soul Calibur (Dreamcast) - I've never been more wowed by graphics than when I first unwrapped my shiny new DC and popped this game in. The fact that the gameplay is so amazing makes this one a no-brainer for me.
7. Tekken 3 (PSone) - One of the most perfect fighters ever made. The characters, the graphics, the gameplay. This game had me practicing until my fingers bled, which was a first for me. Amazing game.
6. Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast) - Another underrated classic of a JRPG. The exploration, building your own base, the art style, the ship combat, the fun story, the concept itself... Everything about this game was pure fun.
5. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PSone) - Often imitated, never duplicated, this game had me exploring, collecting armor/weapons, leveling up and searching out new abilities to open the castle up to full completion.
4. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (Dreamcast) - I've never been more entranced by a games story and voice acting. People would actually come in to my dorm room and watch for the story. Such a great game in a great series.
3. Final Fantasy Tactics (PSone) - Yhe only RPG I've played through from start to finish at least ten times. The story's better than anything FF has done in the last ten years and the gameplay is top notch. Really need a nextgen sequel.
2. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (PSone) - I just love this game. The level design, the art style, the variety, the exploration and trying to find everything to get to 100%. My lady and I bonded over this game. It's an all time classic.
1. Mortal Kombat (Genesis) - If I simply enjoyed games as a kid, this one alone turned me in to a full fledged gamer. It also stirred my imagination like no book or movie ever could. Its why I love writing. It's my all time favorite game.
