Why would you not provide any context for what you're talking about? Are you talking about airstrikes in the middle east in general or like on ISIS or what? Or am I just super outta the loop on something? I think the benefit of an airstrike is more in that it doesn't risk lives of the side doing the attacking as much as a ground assault would and it moves fast enough for it not to matter if you and your pet falcon saw it coming. On a cloudy day are these "native peoples" just completely fucked?

Way to miss the point entirely. Astrology was only mentioned with the other stuff, because it involves looking at distant objects. The sky is a big empty space, planes are kind of obvious. Even the stealth planes are usually only used at night.

Of course a Falcon can`t possibly stop a damn missile, but the shepherd scanning the horizon for his returning bird or watching the weather could easily spot a plane, and radio ahead if they`re affiliated with whoever the threat at the time may be.

Only useful application of astrology would be Lunar phases for light or dark as needed. As for being fucked by weather, the first Canadian airstrikes were called off because of bad weather. Who says ISIS, ISIL or whoever didn`t plan to use bad weather to their advantage?

Stealth planes are straight up INVISIBLE at night, even on radar. Not to mention the insanely high elevation they're flying at. Check mate sheep herders who may or may not have walkie talkies used to notify the "threat." Not to mention the "threat" has to then be around an incredibly good bomb shelter at all times which would massively hinder they're ability to control a region.



I didn't say bad weather I said on a fucking cloudy day, as in overcast. Your "super incredible sky watching native peoples" are fucked on a cloudy day or at night. Thats a lot of time spent being completely fucked. But screw it, lets say its too stormy to fly, that same storm would also greatly hinder movement by ground and would only happen a handful of days a year. After ISIS crawls through the mud one stormy day we could bomb the fuck out of them the following night.

Fuck the "ancient sky watching" bullshit. Your whole argument is that you, personally, can sometimes see airplanes in the sky. You ignore A.) the times that you can't (night time, cloudy days, flying at extremely high elevation, basically a huge amount of time). B.) Spotting an airstrike doesn't even fucking matter if you are not near strong enough cover, this would massively reduce the movement of your troops, the ability to police your territory or carry out pretty much anything. C.) Airstrikes in the middle east do not risk the lives of the side attacking (compared to a ground assault) and are much, much faster.

Also, I would like to know how sky watching is going to save them from an air-to-ground missile travelling at supersonic speed that can go metres into the solid ground and detonate under the rock, concrete or other sortof bunker.
