i've been trying to 'soapbox' all across the internet and nobody's listening
well i'm going to repeat the same thing over and over until someone does listen to me
the majority of gamers perfer text over voice cast
every game that has an english voice cast in it, the majority of gamers complain about it
that's right, EVERY GAME!!!
and do you know what really pisses me off, nobody's ever learnt to check for an option to change the volume of music/sounds/voices, people just have to carry on trolling
complaining about voice casts in the sonic games, the english spoken shenmue games, the english spoken dead or alive games, english spoken japanese RPGs, the tekken games, the final fantasy games, the resident evil games, the mortal kombat games, the tenchu games, the onimusha games
just have people complaining about EVERY game known to man with an english voice cast, why stop at metal gear solid or god of war?!

O.o
Let me be the first to break one of your claims.
I have never complained about any voice casting in the MK games, and I actually prefer hearing them instead of reading a text box. It lets me watch what's going on in the game while still being able to catch what they're talking about.

Voice acting is immensely better than a text box. It gives characters a texture you can't get from a text. And really, voice acting in games is only improving.
More games are moving to Performance Capture, which is filming the actors acting out the scene while providing motion capture. So in addition to voices, you're getting all the motions as well.
Text boxes are just lifeless text. The only time I hear anyone complain about VO, is when a character has their VA replaced. Like Snake with David Hayter.

To say, Helen McLain's badass portrayal of GLaDOS is the reason I got into Portal.
The absolute pinnacle of video game storytelling is the Legacy of Kain series. The others do not compare.
But then again, that is what you get when Shakespearean thespians voice your characters in a heavily story based single player game.

You want a good Text Adventure?
I recommend Adventure Land, Pirates Cove, and Voodoo Castle for the Vic 20/Commodore 64.

I never complained about Voice Casts... only when they change Voice Actors for certain characters.

don't tell me you'd rather hear 'nice to meet you' being said as 'yoroshiku' you wouldn't rather hear 'nice to meet you' being said as 'nice to meet you'
well let me tell you this, the subtitles aren't 100% accurate, when you see them on screen it doesn't mean that's what's being said, all you're doing is taking their word for it that's what's being said
you can't read and listen to japanese at the same time
and guess what, i have asked the majority what they would do if the game wasn't non english voiced and they said they would buy the japanese version and try to translate it just to get away from an english voice cast,
here's an example

Well, obviously this is all nonsense, so here's the real question: Why do they bother getting big name actors to do voices in games, but then never use them in the marketing? I mean, if you're going to spend the money to put Gary Oldman and Kiefer Sutherland in your game, why not at least put their names on the box somewhere?
