Now i have been thinking about how some people i know just listen to music just because it sounds good or it's on mtv. I am hoping its not here as well.

So here's the question? No matter what kind of music you listen to be it rock, rap, pop, country, what gets you interested in the music?

I'll go first.
I listen mostly to metal music. I listen to the bands in heavey metal out:
1.I sounds good
2. Aderinline
3. I can assoicaite with it. Like some songs just get me moved because most of those bands been in the jam i am. Most of them have been depressed or Angry because certain shit happened.

But enough about me, how about u?smile

The lyrics, style, beat, and mood. Something with a hard beat gets me going when i'm down right pissed.grin

But when i feel like to party, i listen to pumped up music or catchy.

I like music with good atmosphere, and talent. i like music that takes me somewhere and has the ability to alter my mood.

1. The Message - completely irrelevent. if the music sucks dick, who cares what message their trying to get across.
2. Genre - irrelevent. any music of any genre can be good. it just depends on whether its GOOD or not.
3. catchiness - irrelevent. its easy to get songs that you hate stuck in your head.

Well it's good to see some replays. I am glad to see that most people like music other than its popular.

Keep them coming.

1. The vocals have to be at least somewhat decent. The two extremes that I hate are the heaviest of death growls (Cannibal Corpse) or the whininess of Emo (Good Charlette). I can take death vocals, if there are at least some points of singing.

2. Guitar and bass. The guitar must be strong enough to stand out on it's own and the bass must be heard. It's very annoying listen to a band where the bass player gets drowned out completly.

3. The bigger the drum set the bettersmile. Plus a bullet speed double bass is even bettergrin.

4. Probably the most important, ORIGINALITY. There is something about listening to a band like Dream Theater or Blind Guardian that makes me go "cool, a band that stands out above the rest.

5. A very good plus is a message or story, especially if that is what an entire album contains. Ex. Dream Theater's Scenes from a Memory and Fear Factory's Obsolete.

1. Sounds Good
2. Makes a point, rather it be about nothing or something relevant, there has to be a message
3.Makes me feel like jumping up and down, excercising, kicking someone's ass, or any other sort of hyper active thing.

1) because the beat or tune sounds good.
2) if its good enough to dance to.
3) catchy lyrics.

I dont care much for what it says. Sometimes there are some songs that i really like because of what it says but its rare.

I mostly listen to punk, hardcore, and metal, but I listen to bits and pieces of a wide variety of genres. Things that are important to me include:

Energy- I like music that makes me want to move around. Probably 90% of the music I listen to can be moshed to.
Rhythm/Beat- well, I guess it kinda ties into the above.
Melody/Mood- I tend to like "dark" or sad melodies, although I also like a level of anger in music.
Message- I tend to prefer music that has a social or political message of some kind.

My tastes are all over the place, ranging from metal to rap to alternative to classical to industrial/electronic dance... I guess it's because I have such a myriad of moods that I need a particular sound to suit each one.

Well, music is so strongly part of my routine, that I really can't go even one day without spending an hour on the CD player. I rely on music for relaxing, and if I were to go without for an extended period of time, I'd go crazy.

But when I'm not just simply unwinding, I do listent for enjoyability. There are a lot of songs I never get tired, and I know exactly what to pull out of my collection depending on the mood I'm in.

But I guess the most important reason is for inspiration. I draw a lot of my ideas from my daily sessions of just closing my eyes and soaking in melodies. Then, usually around midnight, I start writing chord progressions. That's just my formula.

I usually listen to any type of rock music(punk, metal, etc.)

The song has to have:

1. Good lyrics
2. Good sound

The song has to have some sort of meaning. If it's only about sex and boose than it's shit.

I feel alive when I hear music. Its like magic. I simply love it.

1.The message behind the song
2.the lyrics
3.the beat/rythm
4.the mood

Probably the ONLY music I dislike is that of EXTREME EXAGERATED happiness and love and..*shrugs*....ah!

Also, rap music is not something I like, but there are some good songs out there...a few.
