What matters is the connection it implies.

to me, love with a member of an opposite sex is when you ask yourself if you could wake up every day, see that person next to you, and feel happy.

When someone feels a strong emotional connection to something.

I think that "love" is where you cannot imagine yourself without that person maintaining some sort of role within your life.

Hell, I'm young (17) -- That being said, I've never been in love.

I tried to search it, but all I could find were topics about depression.

No. They're not.

As for the question.... Love is difficult. It is also conditional, in my opinion. I do not believe in unconditional love... Some say a mother has unconditional love for her child, but those people fail to see that the clear condition for that love is the fact that they are her child... That is a condition. If they were not her child, she would very likely not love them because many people despise children that are not their own... They're annoying.

In a relationship, the condition for love is that you both remain faithful, involved, etc... Relationships end when the conditions are not meant, and with that, the love ends as well. Some say they will always love each other even if they separate, but we all know that is not true.

On a slightly different note, I think love and hate are the same thing. It is so shockingly easy to hate the people you love the most. You have so much feeling invested in them that if they betray your love it is such a heavy blow you can't help but hate them. Similarly, many people are helplessly attracted to those who they think they hate, and these relationships are often very passionate.... I'm rambling now.

I believe there is no such thing as love at first sight.
The first few years of a relationship, (atleast in my experience young relationships 15 - 21) are of lust disguising itself as love.

Love is the feeling you get for your partner a few years down the line when you still get that feeling that you wouldnt want to be with anyone else despite the many flaws that you may or may not have discovered over time.
Or when a younger model becomes available and you dont even contemplate such a thing.

As far as unconditional love goes....I suppose thats just when a family member pisses you off.....and you kick the holy hell out of them instead of killing them in cold blood. Thats love right there,

I think Dostoevsky in his "Notes From Underground" might have explained it best: i.e. he gave an example of how a woman loved her husband no matter how much he demeaned and harassed her and how much of a loser in general he was. She had no objective reason whatsoever to stay with an idiot of that calliber, but she still did.

That said, I think love is the ultimate "suprarational" understanding and affection for the other side, not only despite the other side's imperfection, but with all the harm that he/she may cause to you as well. The love of Jesus towards the mob that brought his life to end, if you want some more widespread depiction.

Love is something that fascinates people a lot. It can be the deepest meaning of life to some, to many actually. Souls are not involved. Souls belong to Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat belongs to Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung belongs to Netherrealm and Netherrealm (Studios) [belongs] to Ed Boon.

I digress. Anyway, I think that people who don't open themselves for love for thinking it's weak are rather stupid for not accepting their humanity fully. It doesn't mean their lives need to center around love nonetheless. I for one am not fascinated about love but I do respect it and I'm happy if you do as long as you're not blinded by it.
