When one is banned, what prevents the person from making another account?

Is their e-mail address banned, or is their IP address banned?

Just creat like five accounts then join the site with all of them.

Their IP address is the one that's banned. What I'm not entirely sure about, however, is when it's automatically detected by the MKO server and when it's the mod's job to check the IP when they suspect a "new" user has created another account.

Show some tolerance. Be a fucking leader.

1337...there is no 1337 none of us can be 1337 because we are all the same, we are all human. The sooner we realize that, the better off we'll be.

I just realized that banning the IP adress wouldn't be the most efficient route. I'm using a school computer now, and I know that a banned person that wants to create a new account could by-pass the IP address by going somewhere else.

I think it would be smart to ban the e-mail account too. Even though they can create a new e-mail account, I think it would be less likely.

There is no true way to ban anyone.
Unless there's a dedicated moderator checking out each and every person that joins, and he himself then validates the user.

But there are ways to get around that still.

As far as I know, this site uses a users' IP address (obviously) and e-mail address (I think).
The rest, I'm not too sure about.

Question: why're you asking this?

Just out of curiousity. I've often wondered what precautions are taken in keeping the trouble-makers out and why sometimes they don't work (vanhelsing admitted to being pnkmaggit, and some of the people who were filling the Boot and Immune game were previously banned users, like zaggot).

Oh, I see.
Well, there are always ways to avoid bans.
In fact, it's pretty easy, most of the time.
