A thought just crossed my mind while i was playing mkda. Why are the mk games considered a tournament?

I mean, after all, it's not like it is a tournament to see who will win. Most of the storyline's are good vs evil, and if it was a tournament that means that good must vs good. That means if it was a tournament Jax must verse Sonya???

In mkda it isnt a tournament. It is just the earth warriors trying to destroy the deadly alliance. It's not to see who will be the champion???

Any answers, comments or suggestions here???

Do you even know the what the word "tournament" means? It means a series of games or contests (FIGHTING in this matter) that make up a single unit of competition, which is what MK is.

First off this is the wrong forum.

But to answer your question, only the very first MK was a tournament. All of the later games have been somthing different.

MK2 & MK3 - These two game cover the invasion of Shao Kahn's minions into the Earth realm. It was more like a war, not a tournament.

MK4 - This game covers Shinnok's attempt to break out of the Neather-realm with the help of Quan Chi. Once again, not a tournament.

MKDA - The team of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi try to conquer both the Earth Realm and Outworld. They go against to set rules of doing so and kill off the reigning champion (Liu Kang) and Shao Kahn to avoid a hard struggle. They also employ the Dragon King's army in the process.

As for MK Trilogy, think of it like a bonus to fans. It was just a collection of all of the charecters at the time, thrown into one game.
